Great modern camp. Excellent value. Lovely site.
Great modern camp. Excellent value. Lovely site. Quiet lake. Heating came in handy.
I stayed here with my husband and four kids (ages 9, 11, 13 and 19). We had a lovely week!!! Highly recommended!
Perfect family retreat
We absolutely loved our stay! We rent a cottage in the area every year, and this has been our favorite. The house was clean and comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. It was an added bonus having laundry right there! The best part was the outside. The view from the porch was beautiful (and with a close, direct view of the water so the kids could play on the dock without needing someone down there with them), the "gazebo" was perfect for outdoor meals, and we enjoyed the fire pit every night. The dock was absolutely perfect - enough room for lounging, the kids loved jumping from it (very shallow, but water is very low this year), and there were lots of fun floats for all of us to use. My husband especially loved the fishing - you can access Megunticook in a short 15 minute paddle, but he caught the biggest fish right from the dock! This was a perfect retreat for our family to spend fun, restful time together - but with all the comforts of home. The property manager was fantastic as well - responsive and thoughtful. This is a gem and we look forward to next summer!
Wicked nice place
I'm going to cut to the chase and break it down by pro's and con's:
Property managers are first-rate. They even let us borrow their canoe.
Fully stocked house: Great Kitchen, Washer and Dryer
Great view (especially from the dock at night -- enjoy looking at the stars without having to compete with the street-lights!)
It has a yard with an aesthetic fire pit.
There is also a canopy in the yard (handy when it rains and you still want to be outside).
Front porch is excellent for sitting out with your morning coffee.
There is a new-large gas grill with a great side-burner, which is adequate for boiling lobsters and what not.
Fishing is very possible, my GF caught 6 bass (small, but we did see larger ones)
Swimming off the dock is a possibility, but it is shallow. You will have to swim out a little bit more to be free of any weeds. The pond is clean, and comes directly from lake Megunticook (it is connected).
No WiFi/Internet service.
No cell phone connection (if you are lucky, you will get 1 bar, depending upon the hour). Texting seems to work with low connectivity. Otherwise, good luck trying to place a call on your cell-phone. However, the landline works well for local calls.
There are no beds larger than a full. My girlfriend and I both have BMI's (body-mass-index) in the low 20's, but we like a larger bed.
The firewood you will have to find on your own. However, there are plenty of places nearby that will sell you some.
Wonderful Lakeside Living
Our family truly enjoyed the accommodations and the dock. House was fully stocked with everything you could need. The loons, eagles and beautiful sunsets were enjoyed by all ages! Manager's were available for any questions and so great to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. We are looking forward to our return visit!!
Thank you and please come again!
This property was amazing!!! The hostess was wonderful and so helpful. The area was quite and peaceful, just what we needed to reconnect as a family. There is scratchy cell service because of the seclusion but the house phone is available. It was clean and felt like home. We are a little spoiled to air conditioning but even in the 80 degree temps with the windows open it was nice. We loved this house and we would definitely rent again if we are in the area. For us, it was centrally located about 10 minutes from Belfast and Camden and an hour and a half from Bar Harbor. You won't be disappointed! Thanks for sharing your home with us it literally saved our vacation.
So glad to have you find us!
