About the property

Panoramic view of spectacular, rugged beauty of the rolling hills and the lake

The view! Oh my, the view! This custom built home with floor to ceiling windows, has an incredible panoramic view of the lake. The lake view can be enjoyed from the living room, dining room, kitchen, and both upstairs bedrooms, with a slight view downstairs also. Frequent visits from hawks (and sometimes eagles) flying at eye level are a sight to behold, as well as deer that occasionally come to visit in the backyard. The home and back deck are situated in a way that you feel like you have the only exclusive view of Greer's Ferry Lake.

The space

The deck is canopied by mature trees that open up to that incredible lake view. As the day progresses and the sun moves across the sky, various portions of the deck are shaded and others are sun-exposed through the homage to both the sun and the shade lovers! There's almost always a refreshing and relaxing gentle breeze. Plenty of lounging chairs, tables, and a gas grill is also available (propane provided).

In our lovely home with all brand new furnishings, you'll have four large bedrooms to choose from, two on the main floor and two on the lower level. The master bedroom, on the main floor, features a memory foam, king size bed with view and sliding door access to the back deck, an en suite bath, a 45" (HD, 4K, Direct TV), full dresser and closet space. The second bedroom on the main floor offers a queen size memory foam bed with view and sliding door back deck access, a 40" (HD, 4K, Direct TV), full dresser and closet, and semi private bath. Both downstairs bedrooms have queen size memory foam beds, full dresser and closets, with quick access to the gaming area (which has sliding door access to the backyard), and full down stairs bath. Four new, fold out, roll-away beds are available and can positioned in any of the bedrooms or living areas. A port-a-crib is also available.

The gaming area consists of a new, eight-foot pool table that features tournament-grade 1" slate and tournament quality rubber rails. Both 8-ball and 9-ball racks allow for variety and plenty of pool fun. Around the corner from the pool table is the media area which features a 55" (HD, 4K, Direct TV). The large TV can be viewed from the sectional couch or swiveled to face the pool table to allow for the ultimate man-cave experience. A card table and a nice selection of board games are available as well.

The main floor features vaulted ceilings in the dining room, living room and kitchen with plenty of room for the entire crew to come together and enjoy one another while taking in the breath-taking view, enjoying the 55" (HD, 4K, Direct TV), or snuggling while enjoying the fire from the gas-log fireplace.

You will enjoy preparing meals in the large kitchen that features a fantastic lake view and modernized double-door refrigerator, gas stove with convection oven, convection microwave, dishwasher, Keurig coffee area, drip coffee machine, toaster oven, crock pot, and blender. The kitchen is fully stocked with 16 glass place settings, four plastic place settings, silverware, pots, pans, casserole dishes, and griddle. There is a massive pantry available to store any items/food that you want to bring along for your visit. Full sized, laundry machines are also located on the main floor, just off the kitchen/pantry.

A set of binoculars allows guests to watch the birds (including Eagles), squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and deer.

The Lake

The lake is the reason we purchased a home near Greer's Ferry lake. It is a 40,000 acre lake that is known nationally as one of the top 10 for the country's cleanest lakes. Due to the topography of the mountains set around the lake, it is one of the calmest, as the mountains deflect much of the wind, making it a boating paradise. And, if you like to hunt for those elusive fish, you will think you've died and gone to heaven! There are a few marinas around that offer daily slip rates, or, you can rent boats by the hour(s) or find daily rates. There is also a swimming beach at Devil's Fork, just a ten minute drive from the house. Don't forget cliff jumping! Take your choice of cliff heights and plunge into the water. The nearest cliffs are about a 5 minute drive. Whichever way you like to enjoy lake activity, Greer's Ferry is a gem for that activity. We look forward to hearing about your adventure!

Breathtaking view quiet retreat with quality and comfort.

We loved the place. It accommodated the whole tribe. There was something for everyone. Access to the lake, pools, marina and other amenities made it good for kids and adults. The house is large and beautiful and everyone could spread out. The railing on the deck was a bit wide for small children so I wouldn't let the smaller ones out there alone. It wouldn't keep me from staying again . It just means we had to be vigilant at watching the smaller kids. The owners are very accommodating. Please consider this for a great getaway!

Wonderful home for a Girls Weekend.....

  • 4 of 5

Overall the home was wonderful and a great place for our girls weekend. The house is beautiful, clean and well kept. And the view is spectacular!!!! However, there were a few issues:

1. Upon arrival the A/C was set to 85 degrees and while we lowered the temp it wasn't cooling off and not much cool air was coming out of the registers. We tried calling the owners but never received a return call. The home didn't cool off very quickly even after changing the A/C to fan. That evening around 10:00 it was still at 80 degrees. Finally the next morning it was at a comfortable temperature. Would suggest when the temperature outside is in the 90's that it be set lower prior to arrival.

2. The light under the corner cabinets in the kitchen is secured with velcro and kept falling down.

3. We never did find the guest passes to the pool. We weren't able to go to the pool so this wasn't much of an issue.

Again, overall this house was wonderful and would definitely recommend it....

Owner's Response: Hi Barb, I am surprised and sorry to hear you think we did not return your call. I did return your call 22 minutes after you called me. I did not get an answer, so I left you a message. We try to provide excellent availability and communication as I want to ensure our guests have an excellent experience. I would have been pleased to discuss and resolve the other issues with you at any time. I am glad the rest of your time there was wonderful!

Beautiful View But Not Much To Do

  • 4 of 5

The home and view were absolutely beautiful but would better suit adults. Not kid friendly and the “game room” consists of a pool table and board games, which most kids don’t play anymore. The activities are 3-8 miles away and everything closes early.

The addition of a hot tub and updated master bathroom would give the home a boost, as the shower is very tiny. This would absolutely be a great place to stay for all adults. The owners are super nice and communication was exceptional!

Very pretty view

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the place. However, I feel a few changes should be made. The website is very misleading as far as the amenities available. They are available but they are not included and are available for a fee which is not clear. The upstairs was hot, especially at night as we could not get the air to cool well, so I couldn’t imagine staying in the summer with that problem. The downstairs cooled great. The fans upstairs seemed as though they would fall off the wall and we had to keep them on the low for fear they would fall. They were also loud especially in the master so my husband didn’t sleep well at all. With these minor fixes, I would have given the place 5 stars otherwise. Oh and beware, the master shower is so small as if you were showering in a small cruise ship bathroom. We are not large people at all and it was hard to bend over or turn sideways without hitting your elbows on the walls. Hot water ran out quickly also on second bath upstairs.

The view through all the open windows of this cozy place in the mountains is breathtaking!

  • 5 of 5

I do not have enough good things to say about Ron and Dena and their beautiful place! They were super fabulous hosts, and their place is a for sure repeat for our family! Everything we needed was right at our disposal and it all looked brand new! The views of the mountain and lake was stunning! Everything was so clean, comfortable, and cozy. We had a few questions when we first arrived, and Ron and Dena were very accommodating with quick replies. We enjoyed jumping the cliffs and hiking trails nearby, and we rented a boat and spent a gorgeous day at the lake! That was loads of fun and all within a 15 minute drive. We ate at two restaurants nearby which were both very good and reasonably priced for our family of 6. We also grilled on the beautiful deck, and everything we needed was right at our fingertips! Thank you so much for a fantastic fall break!
