Lots of Bedrooms, a Huge Kitchen and River Views in Tarrytown, Close to NY Cit
Beautiful views of the Hudson River and new Tappan Zee Bridge from almost every room of this Tarrytown, New York Victorian. Tarrytown is a historic village on the eastern bank of the Hudson River, just 35 minutes by train north of New York City. The downtown shopping district is just down the hill from our house, and is full of funky shops and restaurants, from fast-casual to fine dining to farm-to-table. We are just .8 mile from the train station, which has an express train to New York City's Grand Central Terminal. Or, take the train north to Cold Spring, Peekskill, Beacon, for an adventure in the Hudson Highlands.
Enjoy the river views in this charming Victorian-era shingle style home that overlooks the Tappan Zee Bridge (and the new bridge) and the glittering Hudson River. At night, the windows twinkle with the lights from the bridge and the village, as well as Nyack across the river. Sunsets are lovely, especially from the porches, but really you have a view of the river from almost every room in the house. The gourmet kitchen is big, equipped with a large six-burner gas stove and oven, cool marble countertops for rolling out pastry or putting your guests to work, and everything you need to cook. Have some friends over and make dinner together; enjoy river views while you cook. There's an additional refrigerator in the downstairs apartment.
Three bathrooms are new this year; the kitchen is brand new as well. Bedrooms are large and comfortable with Tempurpedic mattresses and, if you don't like those, Sealy soft mattresses elsewhere.
The house is the perfect alternative to a New York City hotel. You can walk to everything in Tarrytown, or take a scenic, 35-minute train ride along the Hudson River to Grand Central in New York City. There's a large dining room for your Thanksgiving dinner, and plenty of room to sleep comfortably. Several porches (large and small) mean you can escape the dinner preparations and enjoy a glass of wine at sunset. A small apartment with its own separate porch overlooks the river and bridge as well.
Located three blocks from the center of town, the house is wheelchair accessible from the street, with a ground-floor powder room. Plenty of restaurants, parks, bike trails and even two kayak launches riverside. There are also two lakes with walking trails less than a quarter-mile from the house. Several historic sites are within walking distance (including the Rockefeller estate, Kykuit, and Lynhurst. Washington Irving's Sunnyside is a short drive away, in Irvington)
All in all, we are very walkable, relaxing, and a great place to visit!
*Please note! We have two cats who will be boarded somewhere else while you stay here -- but you should know, in case you have allergies to pets. We have three bedrooms that are kept cat-free at all times, and the lower apartment level is kept cat-free.
PLEASE NOTE: Destructive storm events that are widespread and take out power, internet, cable and the telephone service are considered "Acts of God" and as such are beyond our control. We do NOT offer refunds for travelers who experience these events, though we will work with VRBO to secure "Stranded Traveller Care" (usually in the form of alternative accommodation). For this reason, it is suggested that you have traveller's insurance, just in case!

About Suzy Allman
I'm an avid hiker and traveller, and a professional sports photographer. I love to settle in on the porch with a book, or make dinner with a fire going, or work in the office with that view of the bridge. I absolutely love hosting and having guests, so if there's something you think I can improve on, I'd love to hear about it! Creative ideas especially appreciated. :0)

Why Suzy Allman chose Tarrytown
I'll always call Tarrytown "home", because it's beautiful, convenient, friendly. This house, overlooking the river and the valley, the little village with its train sounds and tugboat blasts, just takes it all in. The location is just perfect: a walk into town, the Music Hall or the train station, but also a walk to the Tarrytown Lakes or Hudson River, the bike path, the Riverwalk and the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail. You won't feel like you're stuck in the middle of suburbia here, and while we're in a neighborhood, you'll feel complete privacy.
What makes this House unique
The river, the sunset, the town below made us fall in love with this house. It's an old home (1889) with generous rooms, but everything is fully functional, clean and updated in the bathrooms and kitchen. And although it's a Victorian, you won't feel closed off in separate rooms; the house has an easy "open plan" that works for families gathering at the end of the day for a dinner or conversation. The kitchen is central to everything, located between the large porch and the living and dining rooms, and steps from where you'll park the car to bring in the groceries.

Perfect home to make our own on our stay in NY!
We had the best time. Beautiful home to call our own for 4 days. Stunning kitchen, beautiful bathrooms. Had everything we needed and more! Great access to owners if i has any questions. I would stay here again if I am out this way. A real treasure.
Fantastic Home for Small Family Gathering
We booked this home for a long weekend for a milestone birthday with family . It was so beautiful and clean with gorgeous views and everything you could want in the kitchen. Suzy was responsive and helpful during the booking process and during our stay. Couldn't recommend this house enough.
This house is amazing! Everything is perfectly appointed, like staying inside a design magazine. The owner had everything set up for us, down to music playing on the Alexa when we came in the door. Seriously! I cannot wait to come back here.
Beautiful house! I highly recommend staying here. Checking in and out was a breeze and there was everything you needed in the beautiful kitchen with heated floors! Amazing for a winter escape.
Thank you so much, Leah! That’s so kind!
Charming house, lovely view, walkable to train
This house was a fantastic find! Suzy and John were the sweetest, most generous hosts my friends and I have encountered. Their home is sparkling clean, beautiful, and very spacious. The kitchen is superb and the fireplaces made for such cozy nights. Extra bonus that it’s so easy to get to from the city. You can walk to and from town. Overall fantastic experience. Highly recommend!
Beautiful home and town
