Nice spacious house close to the beach— attached to an apartment
Really nice place. Open kitchen, nice living area, the front and side yards are nice and spacious. Rooms are comfy and clean. The pictures are accurate. Also, the beach is super close as well as the delicious Hukilau cafe. It wasn’t disclosed to us however that the house is attached to a apartment where college students live. We could hear them the first night in the downstairs bedroom. Parking is rough, only 2 spots. Also we weren’t given check in information until we explicitly asked, and even then didn’t include info like WiFi password and where all the gear was. But overall great for a group of 10 of us just would have liked a little more communication.
Perfect for our Laie Hawaii Stay!
The Castlehouse in Laie was the perfect place for our Hawaii stay. Being a local girl, we wanted to have our family all there for a special event and this was a great place to have all of us in one place staying together. We had enough beds for all the combinations of married kids, grandkids and singles, plus a couple extra beds or cots for the grandkids so everyone could spread out and be comfortable. One of the closets even had a play-n-pack so the baby was happy too. The rooms are comfortable enough to spread out in, beds, linens and pillows plentiful. The decor is simple and attractive and the house is easy to self-maintain on a daily basis.
The house boasts A/C all the time which is a plus in Hawaii and especially during the hot summer months. Even on the warmest days, we were able to sleep "cool" and also got instant relief from the beach when we came in from the sun. The beach toys and beach towels were a bonus; you forget you need all those things until you're in Hawaii so it was nice to have them there to use.
The only downside was the lack of parking (only 2 spots available and we had 3 cars) but they tell you that up front so you just have to figure it out each day and park "on the street."
Easy access to and from the highway, close to everything you want to do in Laie or the North Shore or town, we would do it again and I highly recommend it. First VRBO experience and it was an A++.
We loved this place!
Beautiful and worth the money!
Great vacation home
We had a really great experience at this house and highly recommend it. It was nice to have laundry upstairs by most of the bedrooms -- nice big LG appliances, and every room had good quality, comfortable beds. There is one bedroom downstairs, and the powder room actually has a walk in shower on that downstairs level for anyone who has trouble with stairs. Each upstairs room has a small lookout balcony, but the doors up there don't lock so you might want to bring safety things if you have small children. We found that our kids didn't have the strength to open the those stiffer doors well (even a 5 year old) and the balcony fence is high so it wasn't a concern. The other thing to be aware of is that there is a rooster in the neighborhood that makes noise at about 4 a.m. every morning for about 5 minutes. It's most noticeable in the bedroom facing the street which is where I slept. It didn't bother the other 7 occupants of the rental, just me, but if you think it might bother you, I'd bring ear plugs. We appreciated that the house had sand toys and lots of regular and beach towels. There's a small convenience store just a minute walk from the house where you can grab soap and other essentials and even breakfast. I used to eat there as a girl and if you want some local flavor try the pake cake, musubi, rice cake, or roti. There's a restaurant also connected to the store but it's not open on Mondays. The best part of the house was that it was literally a 5 min walk over to the beach, and Hukilau beach is a relatively quiet and not rough (wave wise) beach with nice sand. To be honest, that's very difficult to find anywhere on the island. We would definitely go back.
Beautiful house, close to the beach, nicely upgraded.
Amazing Spacious Home Perfect for Large Family Vacation!
We had an amazing stay at the Castle House. We took a party of 12 for Christmas and we all loved it. The house is right across the street from a beautiful sandy beach where we swam, snorkeled and boogie boarded. The snorkel gear, beach chairs, ice chest, and sand buckets were available at the property and was quite a plus! Renting gear can be expensive. The house is a two story home with one bedroom and office downstairs and four bedrooms upstairs. There are two nicely furnished living areas in the house...both spacious and comfortable. TVs in both areas were amazing! Kitchen space and seating for dining was perfect for our group. Except for coffee cups, there was plenty of kitchen items for our group...dishes, pots, pans, drinking glasses. We used the BBQ and picnic bench to sit outside in the fenced front yard to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. I told the house manager that the photos don’t do the house justice! The bedding, pillows, linens, and furniture were super high quality! Such an added bonus to our stay. There is a Longs Drugstore, Foodland, and Local supermarket nearby...called Tamara. Though Foodland has more variety, Tameras has better pricing. A lot of amazing attractions nearby, but the best is the beaches! Bus stop is nearby if you don’t have a car available. We took it all the way to Waikiki twice!! Had small problems with hot water for the group, but nothing to complain about. Just plan accordingly! I highly recommend The Castle House!
