Arriving at the property the first thing you will hear is the waterfall. It’s a beautifully created rock waterfall that you can hear from anywhere on the property (sleep with your windows open and it will lull you to sleep). Towards the back of the yard there is a rock patio and a large fire pit. Enjoy the fire in the evening (some wood provided) while you hear the water falling. It’s just the right combination to let go of all your worries and relax.
Situated just 12 minutes (7 miles) from the heart of downtown Asheville, our home sits at the top of a mountain on the end of the road. This mountain top is shared by only two homes. We (owners Ed & Steve) live in the other house just across the crest of the hill.
Our home has 2,500 sq. ft. of inside living area and over 2,000 sq. ft. of outside deck. These are mostly wide decks that allow you to not only enjoy the incredible weather that Asheville has, but also take in the fantastic views. When you are looking off the decks of this tree top home you are looking at the upper third of the trees. Often times you are at eye level with clouds and fog over the Swannanoa valley, looking towards Black Mountain.
The property has year-round views of mountains in almost all directions. In the winter, there are some long range views that will take your breath away. Come replenish yourselves at this mountain top retreat while you enjoy all the hospitality that the Smoky Mountain area is known for.
While you will feel completely secluded at our mountain top home, we are incredibly located – just, 12 minutes to downtown Asheville, and about 7 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway and just 15 minutes to The Biltmore House. Fine dining, local festivals, and mountain biking and hiking trails are all nearby. Ed (me, one of the owners) is an avid hiker and knows some of the best hikes in the area.
The property has a beautiful luxury kitchen that is fully-equipped and features granite counter tops. There is a convenient layout for cooking as well as gathering with friends. The open concept of this house allows your family to all be in the same space whether cooking, sitting by the fireplace or watching the HD-TV on a 55 Inch Flat Screen.
There are three bedrooms and two full baths. The green bedroom has antique furniture from the turn of the last century. This room has a full bed that sleeps two. The grey bedroom has two twin beds and also has antique furniture. This rooms’ furniture is from mid last century. The master bedroom has more modern solid maple furniture from Canada.
The master suite is the only bedroom upstairs. It has a queen bed as well as several dressers. There are two decks that are only accessed by the master bedroom. If you’re an early riser, this is the bedroom for you. The back of the home (where most of the deck area is) faces east. Grab your coffee or tea (provided) and enjoy the sunrise from your patio deck.
The master bath is quite large and has a very big walk in shower. There is laundry in the master suite area as well as a huge walk in closet.
This home is always impeccably clean. I (Ed) am a potter and have made most of the tableware that you will eat off of when you visit. The focus of my art is bathroom sinks (see my website: vtartsinks.com). So while you are here you will also use the ‘art’ sinks that I have created and installed in both the bathrooms. There is a lot of art in the home.
Outside, there are many places to sit and enjoy the incredible views and the seclusion of the woods. Don't forget to use the six person hot tub located just off of the deck.
We have called this house home for years. Now, since Steve and I are just a short distance away, we will do our very best to insure you have what you need for your stay with us, while always respecting your want for privacy first.
