Enjoy tranquility with surrounding beauty in a world of its own in the Roan Valley approximately six miles north of Bakersville, North Carolina. Wake up to spectacular views of Roan Mountain and surrounding peaks. Rock or swing your stress away on the covered back porch from which you will often see deer or other wildlife. Enjoy coffee or a good book on the large deck surrounding the front of the cabin listening to the mountain creek that runs through the property.

Larger groups are welcome. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, one with 2 twins and the other with 1 queen. The master has a king on the main level. Downstairs has gas logs with a TV, 1 queen, 1 double, plus a set of double size bunk beds.

Hiking on the Appalachian Trail is less than ten minutes from the cabin, easily accessed at Carver's Gap. Hiking south at Carver's gap takes you on top of Roan with the world's largest natural Rhododendron forest. Hiking north at Carver's gap takes you to the grassy balds which provides views of five states on clear days.

Nearby Bakersville is home to numerous craft vendors with world-famous Penland School of Crafts within a 25-minute drive. Spruce Pine, Banner Elk, Asheville, Johnson City, Boone, and North Carolina ski areas are within 45-90 minutes. This is an ideal place for family and friends to escape the fast pace of culture and be refreshed with rich fellowship, taking in creation at its best.

Beautiful and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

This was our eighth year staying in this amazing cabin. We can't say enough great things about it. The mountain views from the deck are beautiful! It's so quiet, so peaceful and so relaxing! This cabin has all the comforts of home, it has everything you need in the kitchen, there is cable, Wi-Fi, A/C, all linens are provided, and you can bring the whole family because there is plenty of space for EVERYONE! The owner is great and very easy to get in contact with if you need anything. Outside of the walk-in basement doors has been newly landscaped and it is beautiful! We can't wait to come back again next year!

A very nice cabin with beautiful surrounding views. Deer feeding nearby periodically. Kerry and his wife were very responsive and kind.

Great weekend trip

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our relaxing weekend with friends. The cabin is very nice and the views are incredible. There was plenty of room for all 9 of us. I loved all the windows allowing you to always be able to look out to the openness and mountains. The porch surrounding the cabin was also a wonderful feature to the cabin. I will say, we were a little disappointed by the big bees that kept pestering us as we tried to sit out on the porch and read but that's just nature and you can't really be upset about something that's not really in your control. Also, the cabin itself is beautiful but it was a little dusty and perhaps had been sitting empty for a while. There were several noticeable cobwebs and we weren't sure if the bathroom tubs and toilets were just old and a little stained or hadn't been cleaned well. But over all, it was a wonderful cabin and we really enjoy our stay and would recommend others to stay here. The fooseball table was an added bonus and we also enjoyed making smores over the fire pit outside. We loved hiking the Appalachian trail while we were there too. Great memories and a good time had by all...children, teens, and adults!

Wonderful Weekend looking for Lovely!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time! The property was perfect for what we needed. We are local to the area but felt like we were on a vacation. The property was clean and well maintained. I loved the fact we had no cell service! We did have wifi along with a landline so we weren't so unconnected. Loved our stay and will be back and telling others! Thank you for a lovely weekend away.

Spacious and Welcoming

  • 5 of 5

The kids enjoyed chasing through dinning kitchen living area and hall, round and round. They also enjoyed the porch swing and wandering outside around the cabin.

Mesmerized by the Views

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for our family trip and big enough to accomadate all of us with room to spare. The kitchen was big and had what we needed. Even though it was too warm for our snow tubing plans that weekend we went hiking and enjoyed the views. We spent the first night admiring all the stars from the deck! Kerry was very responsive, friendly and helpful. We would definitely return again to this wonderful cabin.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind review, and thank you for your flexibility with the weather. The stars are indeed spectacular this far away from city lights. I'm glad you enjoyed hiking in January, an unusual treat compared to most winters.
