Hillcrest to the north, Downtown, blocks to the south; Little Italy is a few blocks west down the hill; Balboa Park & San Diego Zoo is three blocks to the east east; airport is a five minute drive; historic Old Town is a 10 minute drive; most BEACHES reached by car in 15 minutes. This place has a good vibe especially if you like older homes with character. Hardwood floors, good light, plenty of privacy. It was very quiet with the exception of the loud planes overhead. This home is under the path of planes landing in San Diego. This really didn't bother us. We actually got a kick out of watching the planes. As another person mentioned, there isn't a microwave, just a toaster oven and keurig so you're not going to do a lot of cooking here. There weren't any really good grocery stores nearby that we were able to find but the Little Italy farmers market is fantastic! We went on Wednesday and Saturday and were able to stock up on lots of fruit, nice bread, spreads, etc. which worked out great for eating in. The location is excellent, a nice walk to Balboa park and Little Italy (about a mile). The Hillcrest neighborhood is also walkable if you like to walk. We really enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. The Spruce Street suspension bridge and surrounding neighborhood were especially enjoyable. And definitely go to Mr. A's at least for a drink. Amazing views! Oh, I would just mention that the beds are a bit on the small side (maybe full instead of queen?). It wasn't a problem for us, but might be if you're very tall. A few recommendations: Some hooks for handing coats/bags in the hallway where you walk in and bedside lamps on BOTH sides of the beds. An electric water kettle and/or microwave would be welcome additions. Other than that, a charming apartment in a great area.
My friend and I stayed here over December Nights in Balboa Park and it was the perfect location. We walked everywhere and were able to see everything without the need of a car. The property was well maintained and nicely decorated. Our only noticing was that since it is an older property noise from pipes and people did travel. Other than that it was the perfect landing spot of a great weekend in San Diego.
Rental was spotless. I was very happy with location. Place was very comfortable.
Great location, cute place!
I recently stayed at this property while my friend went to a conference down at the convention center. It was extremely walkable and there was plenty to do within a few blocks. There is a beautiful arbor covered in flowers by the entry which made it feel like a little haven every time you entered.
The pros: location, accurate to photos, clean!
The cons: no ac (so careful if you travel when it's super hot), parking can be tricky in the area, no stove or microwave though there was a toaster oven.
Overall, it was a great fit for a few days of exploring San Diego!
The place was very pleasant. Although I missed a microwave to warm up my milk and tea.
Nice location but lot of stairs in case you have some disability
