We are here to help you enjoy the best vacation experience ever! We offer our 5000 square foot, architect-designed home, overlooking the beautiful Gypsum Creek valley. The home is designed with a nod to northern New Mexico ranch homes and is decorated with textiles and artwork from Santa Fe and Taos. The house is oriented with large windows on a southern exposure to capture the magnificent sun at this elevation. I believe you will find our house as "special" as we do.
The Ute labeled this valley "Hole in the Sky", as it offers over 300 days of sunshine. The home is situated on 60 beautiful acres with direct access to an additional millions of acres of public land, yet we are 15 minutes from the Eagle County airport (EGE). The elevation is 6700 feet, making the adaptation from sea level easier than that experienced at higher elevations.
The activities are limited only by your imagination:
Let's start with skiing; Vail is 45 minutes away, Beaver Creek is 30 minutes away and Aspen is merely an hour away.
For you sledder's, world class riding surrounds the property. You will never forget riding the Flat Tops. Bottomless powder with great highmarking, technical and open riding at 10,000 feet. Once you leave the parking area, you may never see another rider. It's your own private playground! Outfitters and individual sled rentals are available.
If you enjoy hiking or snowshoeing, there are unlimited opportunities right out the back door. Or you may wish to venture to Hanging Lake, 15 minutes away, to take an inspiring walk on a trail that is consistently recommended in the top 25 of the US.
To relax after all the activities, gold medal fly fishing is 10 minutes away or for a soak where Teddy Roosevelt stayed, head west for 25 minutes, through the beautiful Glenwood Canyon, to Glenwood Hot Springs.
Many locals say "You come for the winter, but stay for the summer." There is no place where this is more true than Blue Sky Ranch. If you have ATV's, Jeeps or side-by sides, you can access public land and hundreds of miles of trails right from the property. For bicyclers, the rapidly developing Eagle/Hardscrabble trail system is visible from the living room and easily reached from the property. Rafting is a great summer activity. Difficulty can range from the class 5's of the Upper Colorado, to a beautiful leisurely float down Glenwood Canyon. You are centrally located to experience all of this and more. Plus, there are plenty of qualified outfitters available to help you in your quests.
There is no shortage of gourmet dining in Vail, Beaver Creek, Edwards and Aspen. Or you may wish to enjoy some great Mexican food at the local restaurant.
After all the outdoor activities, you may wish to take it easy. You can sit in front of one of the 4 fireplaces with a warm drink or relax in the hot tub right outside the door. If you like to cook, there is a gourmet kitchen, featuring Sub Zero and Miele appliances and granite countertops. For morning pancakes there is a 4 burner gas cook top with a separate griddle, right alongside a large kitchen island. A barbeque grill is just through the kitchen door.
For entertainment, there are 2 wet bars. One is situated near the kitchen with an under-counter refrigerator. The other is on the lower level in the recreation area, near the wine room and beer refrigerator. The home has 8 televisions, 3 with surround sound systems, 3 DVD players and high-speed wireless internet service. For content, there is Dish TV, Apple TV and a Netflix subscription.
Indoor activities include a regulation-size pool table, a ping pong table and an exercise room with 3 machines.
If you would like to stay over the Holiday Season, for a fee we will decorate the house and have a 10' Christmas tree to greet you.
