Old Priory Cottage is a charming house, hidden from the road in a walled garden. It's in a unique and a very special setting - just a few minutes' walk from the High Street in Dunster and a stone's throw from some of Dunster's historic buildings including St George's church, the Dovecote and the Tithe Barn. The property was built in the 12th century as a small Benedictine priory. The front door opens into the sitting-room with beams, window seat and Victorian log-burner in an open fireplace. A door leads to the farmhouse kitchen with a large open fireplace, wooden flooring and beams. There is an unusually large cottage stairway leading to two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.

Old Priory Cottage is totally self-contained but is attached to the main house. The property was built in the 12th century as a small Benedictine priory. The front door opens into the sitting-room with beams, window seat and Victorian log-burner in an open fireplace. A door leads to the farmhouse kitchen with a large open fireplace, wooden flooring and beams. There is an unusually large cottage stairway leading to two bedrooms and a bathroom. One bedroom has a double and single bed, so can be used as a double or twin bedroom, and the second bedroom is has two single beds. Please note, the maximum number of guests in this property is 4. Road parking is usually available but there is also off-road parking for one car in the open garage. Bicycles etc. can be stored, wet outdoor clothes dried in a small barn next to the cottage. The church clock strikes the hour. Old Priory Cottage kitchen is fitted with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, Kenwood mixer, electric oven and hob. Other equipment includes cookware, toaster, kettle, a variety of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. A television with DVD player, CD player and radio are provided and wifi is available throughout the property. Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. In addition to the wood-burners Old Priory Cottage benefits from gas central heating throughout. Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. A small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. There may also be other non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and a few herbs or spices available. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided. The garden is shared with the owner (who lives next door and has a dog), there is a private courtyard behind the fig tree with table and chairs. There is also private access to the church garden. One parking space is usually available in an open garage or there is unrestricted parking outside the cottage on road. Sorry, no dogs at Old Priory Cottage (the owner has a dog that lives next door) and this property is strictly non-smoking.

                  It is generally recognised that Dunster is one of the most perfectly preserved medieval villages in England, with origins dating back to the times of Bronze and Iron Age Britain - it is a must for visitors to Exmoor! Situated in a sheltered valley the north-east boundary of Exmoor National Park, the Yarn Market stands proud in the High Street as a reminder that Dunster was once an important centre for cloth manufacture. There are many attractive and historic features, fine thatched cottages, a 17th century watermill (which still grinds flour), a pack horse bridge spans the little river Avill and of course Dunster Castle. Today the village has a fabulous selection of restaurants, pubs and tearooms plus a wide range of independent galleries and shops which offer a first-class shopping experience - more than enough to keep you occupied for at least a whole day! Old Priory Cottage is situated very close the centre of the village (a short walk) but not on the main road, so it is a peaceful and relaxing area too.
