About Mary McDevitt
YOUR HOSTS The person you will interact the most is Mary, our rental manager. She has been working for us for the last 11 years. Besides the usual rental tasks that she does, she loves to assist prospective renters and folks who need to know more about the island before booking, and guide new renters in finding what they need to have a great vacation. She gets great reviews from past renters who needed something-Mary work to meet their need! I’m Ralph, the owner, and I hail from Ohio—would you believe me if I told you I didn’t see the Atlantic Ocean until I was 21 years old? But once I visited Delaware, I was hooked. In 1985, I began building the kind of beachfront getaways I’d want to escape to—ones that make spending time on the shore easy and provide room for the whole family. I’d take suggestions from guests to incorporate to each new home—and each one got better and better. When you stay at The Sunset Home, you’ll have the personal attention of myself and Mary. We’re here to help you with whatever you need. Welcome to Fenwick Island—our happy place!

Why Mary McDevitt chose Fenwick Island
Private Heated Pool, large hot tub, 8 bikes, paddle boards, Kayaks, a canoe - and a private dock to lunch your exploration of the bay. From our dock you can launch your flotilla and travel across the bay and have Breakfast/lunch at one of 5 restaurants-taking only a short, 15 minutes of paddling. Look at our photo album and see the difference in people density between our beach and Bethany Beach's beach - and Bethany has the same people density as Avalon, Cape May, Rehoboth and Ocean City. From the pool and hot tub you have an unfettered view of the bay. Possibly the most popular of the home's amenities is that the home is just a 7-minute walk to the ocean. And what an uncrowded beach it is. The home is in less than a 10-minute walk to many restaurants, coffee shops, go cart track, water slide, movie theater, Fishers popcorn, and many restaurants and clothing stores. You can take guided local tours from 2 kayak touring companies, and there is great biking in the area. Plus, there is a large amusement park a few miles away as well as two boardwalks.

The pool deck is large enough for all your guests; and for those who wish to avoid the sun, there is a covered deck overlooking the pool. - Kitchen: Fully equipped, large gourmet kitchen with expansive countertops and a center island, large enough for 4 sous chefs, and two sinks and refrigerators. Two BBQs are 7 ft from the kitchen. Gather: In the large Hot Tub with your favorite folks, your favorite wine or drink, and relax back and take in the joy of connecting with those you care about. Large Sleeping Sanctuary's: The Sunset Home is a large-group retreat, spacious and luxurious, including three lavish master suites with king-size beds, and with other bedrooms the home provides 16 sleeping options. - Fun For the Kids: Very close to the Sunset Home, the town hall has a great playground for children, a basketball half-court, and a shuffle board court and a picnic area. There are two local kayak touring companies that provide tours. Plus, an large amusement park is just a few miles away as well as two boardwalks. Uncrowded Beach: What is rare in most beach resort towns is that Fenwick Island is named the Quiet Resort because it is. No raucous behavior on the beach, or the town.

Property was all that it was advertised to be.
The property was everything it was advertised to be; nothing less, nothing more. We were totally satisfied with the house, surroundings, and treatment. We believe five stars is reserved for something extra special so our rating is very good. The weather did not cooperate so very little time was spent outside taking advantage of many features of the property and area. The bikes were a nice surprise but it's a good thing one of us had brought a tire pump.
Sandra and her group were a pleasure to host. We'd have them back anytime.
Beautiful, spacious home on the bay!
The Sunset House is a beautiful, spacious home that is ideal for families and friends gathering at the shore. This is our third year returning to the Sunset House and once again, we loved our time in the home. Even in the "off season"...the view from the decks is marvelous, the hot tub is right on the water, and we all enjoyed biking and kayaking. Short walk to the beach! you can't beat it. Thank you, Mary!
It was our pleasure having Kaia and her group in our vacation rental. They took very good care of our place and left it very clean. Followed all house rules I welcome her back anytime.
Have a great Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday.

We can't say enough good about our stay in this fabulous home! They provide games we played-all the water sports with the kayaks and paddle boards which the kids and adults loved-place was clean and very roomy like it says to find a quiet corner now and again was easy. Restaurants down the road like Nantucket were excellent eating and made an easy walk to it and the ocean. You can't beat the views from this quiet beautiful spot-we hope to repeat this experience next year!
The Sunset House lives up to it's name!
The Sunset House lives up to it's name -- it is a beautiful home, with a spectacular view of the bay. We just returned from a lovely weekend with family and friends (our third year in a row) -- everyone enjoyed the home, which is ideal for large gatherings. The rooms are spacious and clean...almost all have a beautiful view. The hot tub is an added bonus, especially in the cooler months! Soak up this home, or enjoy nearby walks to the beach, restaurants, and local shops. This is a hidden gem and we would recommend for families with kids and older adults. Rental company is easy to work with and timely with all interactions. Thank you for another great year at The Sunset House. We will be back again! K&J

Best family vacation
The house was perfect for our extended family. Great space for family dining and inside and out.
We loved the sunsets, the pool and hot tub, also the cayaks and paddle boards. Our two 12 year old boys had a blast on them.

To the north, Fenwick Island State Park offers limitless opportunities for sunbathing, fishing, windsurfing and more. In town, there are endless opportunities for kids' fun, whether it's a round of putt-putt, a go-kart ride, or some delightfully wet waterslide fun at Viking Golf Amusements and Thunder Lagoon Water Park.
