About Bruce Carter
Here is just a quick overview of my career along with a few of Carter Vacation strengths in the rental industry. I have been involved in the hospitality field most of my life. After graduating from Boston University back in 1986 I got my start working as a night auditor in a small hotel just outside of Boston. I quickly became fascinated with this industry and wanted to know everything about it. I enjoyed finding new ways to improve the overall experience for the guests and in doing so, I was promoted often. I learned all aspects of each department and through the years I became the General Manager of some very well-known hotels. During my corporate career as a General Manager of a Hyatt Hotel in Tampa I had an opportunity to manage a small beach vacation rental along the shores of the Gulf. Simply put…I was hooked. This became my new passion and career. My wife and I had stayed in vacation rentals in the past with mixed feelings about our stays, I knew there was room for improvement in the Vacation Rental business and I was excited to get started. My team and I have worked hard and I feel our success at Carter Coastal Vacation Rentals is from having a variety of vacation property options that suites each guests needs and budget. We also have chosen to keep Carter Vacation Rentals business relatively small in order to maintain a personable connection with each of our new arrivals. I, along with my team understand the importance of anticipating the guest’s needs as well as treating each guest with complete respect during their vacation getaway. We take great pride in serving you. We are here for you. So choose one of our properties and soon you will be enjoying a "little slice of paradise" on the beautiful barrier island. Hope to "see ya" on the Beach Bruce Carter

We really enjoyed our stay here. This was our first time renting a house for vacation. The house was a little outdated but, we still enjoyed it. The ceiling fans downstairs did not work. And the picture of the house online makes you think that there is no other house next to this one. But there is a house in front of it and on each side. But it still was very private. We didn't hear anything from the other homes. It was a very quiet and peaceful place. The beach was beautiful. We loved being able to walk out to the beach at anytime. We will be using VRBO again. Loved it.
Can’t beat the location
If you are looking for a house that is steps from the gulf, this is it. Sure it needs to be updated a little but you cannot beat the location. There are plenty of beach chairs, boogie boards & the kayaks were awesome. Want to kayak with dolphins? You can! The cosmetic issues were not enough to ruin the trip by any means. This isn’t the Ritz but then again it’s not like you’re paying for the Ritz. You’re paying for the location which is amazing.
Thank you Meagan, so glad you appreciated the amazing location and views. We also try to make your stay more enjoyable with all the extras. The kayaks are a big hit. The owner will continue making improvements to the interior as we are going into our slower season. Thanks again for your comments.
Perfect location and beautiful beach! Very quiet and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.
Adequate accommodations, great location
We stayed for the week and loved the beachfront location. However, the home was definitely not well maintained, and I was disappointed because it was not as nice as it showed in the photos. While the accommodations were adequate for a week at the beach, the lack of upkeep of the home was clearly evident. For instance, there is a lovely double sliding door that opens to the deck, but the screen door does not open or close. The tall blinds to the private balcony upstairs did not open and close and they were missing several slats. The pantry and kitchen cabinets were lacking knobs and were very difficult to open and close. The kitchen appliances were nice, except the coffee maker which was coated with dirt and grime and was unusable. The kitchen counter had holes burned in it. There were cracked walls/ceilings, peeling paint, missing and falling off baseboards and crown molding, and even several areas where the floorboards were missing or didn't come together. My daughter found used gum stuck to the nightstand in her bedroom. The spiral staircase in the main room would not be safe or appropriate for families with small children. The only bathroom on the main floor was the one attached to the master suite. Also, the deck was in need of refinishing with many people getting splinters. The beach was pristine, however the access was shared with a property directly behind the home, which I was not aware of when I rented the property. Although we enjoyed a week staying beach front, if you are looking for nicer accommodations, this is probably not the house for you. Admittedly, none of these issues were major, but there were enough items of poor maintenance and upkeep that I would not rent this property again in the future.
Hi Tiffany, Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that your stay was not what you expected. We try hard to maintain this beachfront property and we understand it couls use updating..but we take that into consideration keeping the rate low as we continue to put tlc into the home. I have also forwarded your comments to my executive housekeeper and she has assured me she will double inspect and report back to management.
We do hope you found time to enjoy the beach just steps away and the amazing views.
5 Star fun, views from the deck and rooms. Private access to the beach. Walk for miles, kayak for hours, slip into a beach chair and watch the sun go down. House is located walking distance to bike rentals, restaurants. Quick drive to many activities and area interests. Plenty of space in the house, as described. 2 stars for cozy.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Private Beach Home in Indian Shores. Love your title description "Unlimited Fun"!! It's true, there's nothing like being directly on the beach. Glad you were able to use the kayaks, and found the home spacious. We hope you will consider staying with us again on your next beach getaway.

Indian Shores Beach House
The location and view of this home is worth the money! Amazing location on the beach and within walking distance to great restaurants.
The kitchen is not equipped well to prepare meals. We did see bugs in the kitchen area and upstairs. Overall, the home is in need of work. The spiral staircase is an issue if you have younger children or 65+ guests.
The owner was difficult to work with, we found him rude and intrusive. Although the management company did it's best to make things right.
Thank you for reviewing this beach property. Glad you enjoyed the views. It is such a nice property (that needs some tlc) We have made a punch list and the owner has agreed to tackle them.
We do hope to have you back
Enjoy beautiful Indian Shores Beach with the white sandy shores, and the incredible Gulf of Mexico. This beach just might be one of Florida's untouched. No high rise condominiums, We have the nostalgic Florida scenery. Old Timers call this part of the island "The Narrows" where the sand is just wide enough for a single row of homes. Historically, the most beautiful spot on the tropical barrier islands of Tampa Bay between Clearwater and St Pete. ndian Shores is just a 10-minute ride on the beach trolley to John's Pass Village, a large marina, shopping and dining complex that offers a variety of water sports rentals, casino boats and dolphin-watching or sunset cruises. Ten minutes to the north, you'll find another marina and a variety of shops and restaurants at Clearwater Beach, also home to the Clearwater Aquarium, the residence of dolphin movie star Winter from Dolphin Tale. For a taste of city life, nearby downtown St. Petersburg, a 20-minute drive from the beach, is home to several world-class art museums, including the renowned Salvador Dali Museum, and popular attractions less than an hour's drive away include Busch Gardens, Adventure Island and the Florida Aquarium.
