Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Imagine enjoying a hammock between the birch trees overlooking this beautiful, quiet cove... views of the ocean from every room! Western exposure makes for wonderful sunsets.

Our little hidden, cocktail deck, tucked under the birch trees near the water's edge is perfect for enjoying the sounds of the ocean as the day winds to a close. Our big yard is great for family soccer games or hanging out on the tire swing. Our cozy cottage has a stone fireplace, breakfast bar and comfortable beds! This home can sleep up to six people.

The cottage has three floors - Master suite upstairs(queen) with bathroom with shower - Basement floor has two bedrooms (double in one room and twin with trundle in the other) which open to yard - Middle level has our kitchen, living room, dining area and 2nd bath with tub/shower and washer/dryer.

There is an outdoor shower with incredible views!

Sliding glass doors from the living room open to a deck that overlooks the yard and ocean. The kitchen has a gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster oven. There is a full set of pots/pans(including lobster pot!) Dogs are allowed (additional security deposit.) Metal dog crate available (40-50 pound dog size.) No smoking.

There are local lobster docks where you can buy your crab or lobster fresh daily- and there are a variety of restaurants within a ten mile radius. The town of Brunswick is 15 minutes away and has a large shopping area. Freeport- with it's many outlet stores and LL Bean - is 30 minutes away. Kayaks can be rented locally and there are many islands to explore or harbor seals to follow if you have water transportation. There are also wonderful walks for humans and / or dogs nearby.

The cove is tidal with great swimming at high tide and tide pool exploring at low tide. We recommend bringing water shoes so you can explore among the rocks and shells.

Bridget,

We loved, loved, loved your place. It was so serene and lovely. Just what we needed.

My friend, Kristin, chose to leave her sheets there due to her bag being filled and also thinking it would be nice for some renters to have them if they needed sheets. We did wonder if most of your renters come by car...the only thing that we would maybe suggest is that you do throw a couple old towels/sheets there for those who are coming by plane. It was TOTALLY 'doable' but did take up a bit of suitcase space.

The place was just fantastic. It was a perfect retreat. I hope to return.

Best,

Sandra

About Bridget OBrian

I grew up in Maine and have summered in Harpswell for over 15 years. Love the quietness of Harpswell.

Bridget OBrian purchased this house in 2001

Why Bridget OBrian chose Portland & Casco Bay

There is plenty to do in the area and yet you are off the beaten track. We love to sit with coffee and watch the birds in the morning and then have a cocktail on the little sunset deck in the birches in the evening. Restaurants are near or you can cook your own lobster or grill with great meats from the local butcher.

peaceful, relaxing, felt like home!

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we put our bags down we felt as if we had been on vacation for days. The house is clean and comfy, the fenced in yard is perfect for our dog Nucky, and the view and sunsets were stunning. And on top of that Brunswick is close and fun, lots of good food, and plenty to do nearby.

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year at Sunset Cove cottage. We loved it as much as the first time and found even more to explore in the area! The home is comfortable, well equipped, and perfectly located. We enjoyed floating around at mid to high tide, lounging in the yard by the fire pit, dinner with a beautiful view and playing games around the large dining table at night. We walked many trails within a 20 minute drive from the cottage, found quaint shops and lovely seafood lunch stops. Sunset Cove is located only 20 minutes from Brunswick where you can find great restaurants. We happened upon the Broadway Diner on Maine Street - the staff was entertaining and the food low prices and great tasting!

So much to do or do nothing at all, you can't go wrong at Sunset Cove cottage!

Comfortable and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Despite a bit of chilly and rainy early June Maine weather our stay was absolutely delightful! The house was very clean, and well-equipped. We slept in the upstairs bedroom and found it to be comfortable and pleasant. The view from the deck was serene and lovely (amazing sunsets too). We had two dogs with us, so the fenced in yard was a bonus. The steps down to the water were pretty steep, but we had no problem together getting our kayak down. Kayaking around the cove was so peaceful. We liked that the location was private, but also that there was a lot to do that was not so far away - Brunswick (coffee shops, music store, book stores, restaurants), parks and hiking trails, running trail. My husband also enjoyed biking. The owners were great to work with and committed to making our stay the best it could be.

Wonderful seaside escape!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in October at this delightful seaside retreat and could not have been happier with the property or its owners. The house is beautifully situated on the coast with a gated yard that was perfect for our dog. The interior is beautifully decorated in a casual, beachy theme. We had everything we needed - including the beautiful stone fireplace! We have already booked a week to come back this summer!

Good!

  • 4 of 5

The house was good! The porch and backyard was great! The weather was fantastic! I would recommend if someone wants to stay in that area. Our next trip to Maine will be a little farther north to see more of the state.

Thank you.

WE had a wonderful stay at this lovely house!

  • 5 of 5

We love driving down the dirt road almost to the end, to reach the house - no traffic!!

It is private without feeling isolated. The house is charming. When we arrived it was

clean and inviting. The fenced in yard for our furry friend is a blessing, he could run around

and have a great time wile we relaxed in the hammock or around the fire pit or up on the

deck. The views are spectacular. One problem: we couldn't get our kayak down to the water,

as the steps down are very steep. But we could go down on foot and enjoy the cove water.

One evening we took a sunset cruise on the schooner Alert - highly recommend it!

And of course there were many lobsters consumed.

Bath is close by, and a sweet town with interesting history. Good restaurant there is

Solo Bistro.

All in all, a great week.
