Welcome to Hikers Rest! Your home away from home in beautiful Highlands, North Carolina. Our three bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home can be rented at a discounted rate for one bedroom occupancy. Please send us a message if you would like a quote for this special discount.

Our location is the perfect spot to experience comfort and convenience, as well as an easy walk to town along quiet, residential streets. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac, you can park your car and take the 5-10 minute stroll to the many restaurants and shops in Highlands.

The spacious den is furnished with comfy furniture, including a big leather chair and a roomy sofa surrounding a gas fireplace. A flat screen TV with Roku, cable TV, wireless high speed internet and stereo system can keep you in touch while you're away from home.

The master bedroom and huge master bath featuring large garden tub are located on the first floor. You will love sleeping on the master bedroom's king size super comfy bed. All the bedrooms feature black-out shades, making them the perfect place to catch up on your rest! The master bedroom is carpeted, and the remainder of the first floor has hardwood flooring.

The master bath has a large garden tub, separate shower and two spacious vanities.

The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing gourmet meals, and the dining area easily seats six, with extra room at the kitchen bar. We have a Keurig for coffee lovers!

The dining area opens onto a spacious deck, nestled among mountain laurels and pines, with a large gas grill creating an entertainment area for all guests to enjoy the excellent weather for which Highlands is known. The spacious and shady front porch has a small table and chairs and porch swing where you can sit and enjoy the daylilies, irises, roses and hostas.

Two bedrooms and a full bath are located on the second floor: There is a bedroom with a queen bed, large walk-in closet, flat screen TV and DVD player, and a cozy corner sitting area.

The other bedroom upstairs has two beautiful bunk beds, a large walk-in closet, flat screen TV, and a day bed which provides the perfect spot for a nap or catching up on a good book.

Both upstairs bedrooms are very spacious and tastefully decorated with neutral colors and high quality berber carpet.

There is a landing upstairs with a twin size trundle bed, which would easily sleep two children.

The home has central heat and air conditioning throughout the entire home, unlike many mountain homes in the area.

There is a full size laundry area with washer, dryer, drying rack and ironing station.

If you're up for adventure, browse our Highlands Hiker hiking guide, pack a picnic, grab a walking stick and head for the trails. Feel free to use our walking sticks, backpack, water bottles, cooler and ice packs to make your packing easier. Visit our local waterfalls or go for a hike along many outdoor trails that surround Highlands. Sunset Rock/Sunrise Rock trailhead is a few minutes walk from our Highlands Walk location!

Browse, shop and eat to your heart's content in downtown Highlands. You will find everything from hiking shoes to fine jewelry at the downtown shops. Catch a fun evening of bluegrass music at the Ugly Dog Pub, enjoy pleasant al fresco dining at a number of downtown restaurants, enjoy a movie or stage production at the Highlands Playhouse - Highlands has something for everyone and will not disappoint!

About Jason Brubaker

We have five children and reside in Johns Creek, GA. Our favorite place in the world is Highlands, North Carolina and we are blessed to share our home with you. Rachel was born and raised in Atlanta and Jason grew up along the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Rachel graduated from the University of Georgia and Jason graduated from Elon University. We enjoy spending time with friends in North Atlanta where we are actively involved in our church and children's school.

Why Jason Brubaker chose Highlands

Highlands Walk is a small enclave of five homes within a 5 minute walk to downtown Highlands. We chose this home based on its proximity to Main Street and its easy access to some of the South's most breathtaking views. We purchased this home to get away from the busyness of life in North Atlanta but also to spend quality time with our family and close friends who own other homes in Highlands Walk.

Wonderful Time!

Owner VERY responsive, plenty of linens and dish towels, kitchen well equipped, great location, easy walking distance to town or hike to sunset rock. Will look to stay here again if we ever get back to Highlands!
