About the property

340 ft ²; full kit and bath, sleeps 4; sat TV; nestled among organic gardens

This completely renovated, eco-friendly cabin is in the heart of horse country. With a full kitchen and bath it sits in the middle of our 29 acres of woods and fields where we grow organic produce. We are located in Green Creek only six miles from the Tryon International Equestrian Center. The Blue Ridge Parkway, wineries, Asheville, mountain biking, and rafting are all within an hour's drive. Everyone is welcome, including, well-behaved dogs. Relax on the porch and breath the fresh air.

All of the appliances are new, including stove, refrigerator, micro-wave, dishwasher, toaster, and coffee pot. We'll leave you a supply of tea bags and ground coffee for you to enjoy.

You have the entire cabin to yourself with ample parking for your vehicle and a horse trailer, if you have one. Our greenhouse patio is yours to enjoy. Have a cup of coffee, read a good book, connect up to Wi-Fi, or simply relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. While your dog is welcome, please note it may not be on furniture or sleep in the beds.

Our home is 200-feet away from the rental cabin. Our driveway is 1/4 mile long and our nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away.

We use only eco-friendly cleaning supplies. Our floors are tile throughout. We use no-VOC paint and encourage recycling. Our cabin has two twin beds, one XL and one regular, plus a full-sized futon. It will accommodate up to 4 adults . We have plenty of room to park a horse trailer.

About Bob Leibfried

We moved to this beautiful part of the country from another beautiful part of the country, Minnesota, in 2011. Bob is a retired forest hydrologist and Vicki is a retired elementary school teacher. We love the outdoors, spending our time tending our organic gardens, hiking, biking, and camping. We have owned horses, chickens, and dogs. Currently we have two rescue dogs.

Bob Leibfried purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Bob Leibfried chose Tryon

Although we have lived in large cities at various times, we have embraced country living for most of our lives. This home on 29 acres spoke to us and we knew it was right for us. We are happy to share its beauty and serenity with you.

Fresh air, still nights, cozy cabin and gracious hosts

  • 4 of 5

This cabin has a floor plan like a small efficiency apartment, but if you plan to take in the surrounding communities, the beautiful forested foothills, or the equestrian activities and shops, this is a perfect little night stop. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to work in.

Not much "slouching" space, but we still were able to prop our legs on the dining chairs and enjoy the TV. The beds are comfy, the nights are very quiet and still, and in the mornings you might look out on a partially wooded slope with wildlife grazing there. Also during the day, there are great hiking trails through the woods to get out on.

We found this a great little get-away and enjoyed learning a lot about this section of our state that we had never known! Tryon is a historic town and the folks are about the friendliest I've encountered anywhere.

We especially enjoyed our hosts, whom we interrupted because they were just so interesting and pleasant to be with! Their dogs and ours got along just fine, too!

We would stay here again if we visit this area of the state.
