About Lisa Carlson

This little house is the culmination of many years of dreaming about running a B&B when in actuality, I don't like getting up early or doing dishes! Guests will be treated to freshly baked goodies from time to time though, & the fridge might offer other surprises as well. Great care & attention has gone into every aspect of the decor; both in aesthetic considerations & in comfort. I'm an RN & work in Loveland, so will usually be accessible via texting or phone or in person & will provide some other contact information if for any reason I cannot be reached. I hope my guests enjoy the ambiance of the house, & also of the small-town neighborhood it has been a part of for 70 years now. I'm a Colorado native and have lived in Denver, Boulder, Greeley, and Ft. Collins, so know a bit about the area as far as assisting guests to make the most of their visit here.

Why Lisa Carlson chose Loveland

A love for historic homes fueled this project; a search that began with early 1900s houses which, unfortunately, were small, a bit dark, & bearing within them too many smells of all the years past! Eventually this home came under my radar, even though it was built in 1948. What it lacked in turn-of-the-century charm, it more than made up for with its much roomier bedrooms & big bright (new) windows. Wanting to be a part of a quiet old-town setting, the neighborhood was a perfect fit. Sadly, so much of the historic charm of many of the old homes in this area has been completely lost in renovation aimed solely at being low-cost and "modern". So opening is doors as a guesthouse this year is a perfect way to celebrate its 70th birthday!

What makes this house unique

This location offers the best of both worlds - its just blocks away from hwy 34 for easy access, & blocks from the heart of downtown Loveland with the historic Rialto Theatre, restaurants, galleries, & shops. I also like how the main level is up off from the ground more than many of the old homes I looked at previously - its somehow a comforting feeling to be up higher when looking out. We are particular about furnishings & ambiance when we travel; always seeking interiors that feel like they could be in our own home, so that is what Ive strived for in this house - that it feels just like home.

Beautifully appointed, comfortable and quiet

  • 5 of 5

Probably the best VRBO experience we have ever enjoyed. Lisa could not have been more hospitable. The house is lovely, the deck, patio, and lawn are so inviting that we hated to leave. Groceries, dining, and shopping are within easy walking distance. We will definitely be back soon!

Comfortable, Quaint, and Clean

  • 5 of 5

This 1940s cottage is well-appointed with beautiful antiques and ample modern amenities. We loved that we didn’t have to stop at the market on our way in because Lisa had coffee and milk ready for us. The small fresh flower arrangements, many cut from the yard, were so welcoming. What a nice touch!

Lisa gave us excellent recommendations for how to make our stay in her town fun and memorable. From the pizza at Origins to the stout at Big Thompson Brewery to the hike at Estes Park, we just fell in love with the area.

Thank you, Lisa, for being such a gracious host. We hope our paths will cross with yours another day soon. I

Perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful and the neighborhood was really quiet. Lisa made sure we had everything we needed and threw in some beautiful flowers to make the occasion extra special. I would recommend this house to anyone, and would stay there again.

Beautiful, clean, simple

  • 5 of 5

This house was great. Everything was very clean and organized with no clutter. It wasn't very big but it was comfortable enough for the 4 people in my family. We appreciated the books and information on the Rocky Mountain National Park. The house was in a pleasant neighborhood, so we walked downtown for dinners (about a 15 min walk, less than a mile). The host seemed very nice in our text communications and offered some great food recommendations.

Perfect location, great house!

  • 5 of 5

This was such a lovely place to stay! The house is decorated so beautifully and the private backyard with pergola was a great place to relax and grill dinner (when we didn’t eat out at the nearby restaurants downtown!) My husband and I stayed here with my adult daughter and her adult cousin. It was the perfect size place for the four of us. And there was plenty of room in the kitchen and family room, when my Colorado daughter and her husband came over to visit and grill with us. It’s in a great location, a quiet neighborhood, and the rose garden was just starting to bloom. Lisa went out of her way to make our stay special. We arrived late in the evening, so she had the lights turned on for us with some homemade muffins waiting. She also had fresh fruit and even made heart-shaped ice cubes with raspberries frozen inside! This place definitely has the feel of a Bed & Breakfast, but with the privacy of your own house. It sure beats a hotel too! I know we will stay here again when we come to visit.
