About Barbara

Our large family loves getting together. So we wanted something fun for the 3 yr old or the 90 year old. With two Chalets in Shagbark we can all get together

Barbara purchased this chalet in 2003

Why Barbara chose East

We built our two Chalets for family reunions. Our greatest joy is enjoying each other. The Great thing about Chalet Mignon is it’s close to entertainment for every age. Dolly Wood; Family Theaters; Smoky Mountain National Park, Shopping, Rafting, Fishing and so many other things. Yet once we go through the guard gates of Shagbark (a 1,300 acre wild life preserve) you feel like you are living in a park.

What makes this chalet unique

The beauty of Chalet Mignon is not only does it have a Jacuzzi,Hot Tub and Regulation Pool Table but it is on a private 2 acre lot with a view of the mountains that you can see through the spacious windows while relaxing on the couch. There is a pool & tennis courts in shagbark available for owners or guests.

Wonderful chalet, amazing view, gracious owners!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 9 recently stayed at Chalet Mignon 2. We were very impressed! We've stayed in several area chalets over the years and this one was the nicest yet. Great layout for our family. Amazing views and very quiet. And, the owners of the chalet were extremely nice to work with! They were very responsive with any questions that we had. Would highly recommend!!!

great place to stay

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful views. The drive getting there is pretty difficult. There are 2 ways to go, both really steep though. The longer way is better, but still steep.

Owner's Response: There are actually 3 ways to get there. The fastest are the first two and one is steeper than the other. I always take the 3rd way which is slightly longer but easy for someone like me (who never drove in the mountains) . It's about 8-10 blocks up after turning off the main road. So glad you enjoyed the views , I wanted something with good views but not to hard to get to. Barbara

Loved staying in Chalet Mignon. This was not our first visit. We have been here before in the same cabin and just love it. It's a perfect mountain setting in a charming, gated community. You feel safe, yet you have tremendous privacy and an incredible view. The chalet is clean, spacious, tastefully decorated, comfortable and perfect for families. There are wrap around decks surrounding both levels and a hot tub on the lowest level. You could almost sleep out on the decks feeling a part of nature, if it were not for the thought of a bear cuddling up next to you. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are family friendly areas with lots of great things to do for all ages. We enjoy the bustle of the city, then coming home to the retreat of our cabin to just hang out and visit. Love the loft that looks out to the huge A-frame window where you can enjoy the comforts of inside with a perfect view of the outside. But if you like privacy, there are several rooms with comfortable beds on the two lower levels. Honestly, we just love hanging out, visiting, enjoying nature, playing games and being disconnected for a few days. We will definitely return! Highly recommend this place for creating family memories.

Amazing host and cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was at a perfect location that wasn't far from pigeon forge, but also was very private with beautiful views. The cabin itself was splendid with an upstairs and downstairs kitchen and ample sleeping space. Barbara was extremely helpful with all questions. We hope to be back!

Nice place!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very nice! We had a few people cancel and ended up with a crowd of 10. --this was the perfect amount for comfortable sleeping arrangements. The cabin was very spacious. The kitchen was a little small if a big family planned on staying there and cooking for a week--but definitely still good! (and there are two kitchens! 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs!). The owner was a very nice lady who helped with all questions via email and phone. We were given the wrong cabin number and had some issues at the gate getting in--but everything worked out and our names were listed under the right location. The entrance to the cabin was convenient with a code so we did not have to worry about keeping up with a key. There was not too great of a view because it was winter and the trees just looked like sticks but we were definitely on top of a big mountain!---still pretty. Our 2WD vehicles were able to climb the mountain but it was a little bit of a struggle at parts. At the actual cabin , we were relieved we only ended up bringing 3 cars as that was all the room there was for parking. I am sure there are other areas to park--but not directly at the cabin. I did not pay attention the fact there was no wifi when booking and service was not great. BUT all in all--it was a great place, clean, nice, and the owner very friendly! Wonderful place to rent! I would definitely recommend!!!

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed our home. Additional parking is about 8 blocks away by the pool. We recommend you ask additional drivers to park there and pick up those guest . At this time of year even though the trees are leafless we love seeing the mountains.Once winter is over we feel like we are in a tree house. We use our Verizon Cell phone as a hot spot since Wi- fi is not yet available. There is also inernet connections and computers at the library (less then 8 miles away). Barbara

Cabin was beautiful and very clean. View was amazing. It had everything that 8 adults and 5 children needed. The only complaint was from the children that they didn't see any bears, lol.
