About Leif Palmer
While the property is actually my mother's, I have help maintain and remodel it, as well as enjoy using it any chance I get. I grew up playing at this beachouse on the weekends and riding my 1979 Honda Z50 in the yard (And on the streets until the police informed my father that it was illegal). Now in my 30s, I live in the Portland area and still make it down to the Beachouse a few times a year. I love to crab the Alsea bay and enjoy taking our dogs to the beach and relaxing on the deck.
Leif Palmer purchased this House in 1987
Why Leif Palmer chose Bayshore
There's over 50 listings in the Bayshore area. This is not the nicest or the worst. It is affordable, nice and clean. I can guarantee that this house is great for relaxing with family or friends. While the house is somewhat dated, being built in late 70s. It does have updated floorings, windows, appliances, and a wrap around deck. My father purchased the house from his mother who was going to lose the house due to difficult financial times. My dad was the most generous person I have ever met. He enjoyed spending weekends at the house with our family and friends. While he did not believe in "renting" the house out; he'd let any friends or acquaintances use it free of charge. Unexpectedly, in 2016 my father passed away due to heart failure. While we still love to use the house, it is difficult to make it down there from Portland more than a handful of times each year. For this reason we have decided to start renting the house out in 2018 to help cover the taxes and upkeep on the house. We hope that you enjoy your time away from the "real world".
What makes this House unique
The living area of the house has a wall of 8 large windows to give a view of the hillside leading to the bay. While its not ocean or bayfront. You can see the bay and hear the ocean. A five minute walk will get you to either. The large wrap around deck was built to enhance the beach setting and is great for gathering and relaxing. The yard is actually another lot that we own, so their isn't a house blocking the view, but there is a fire and horse pit to enjoy respectfully. Being the Oregon coast, rain is never out of the question. Having a fireplace inside and watching and listening to storms are some of my favorite moments at the beach. Don't forget about the Dock of the Bay across the bridge, it is full of Dungeness Crab that completes any successful beach trip.

We felt right at home.
We love the Oregon Coast and decided to try Waldport for a change. We had stayed in LincolnCity the past several years. Palmer’s Place is very welcoming. Because of previous experiences, I brought some kitchen items I thought I would need. However, I could have left them home. The home is equipped with anything you might need, and then some.
The bed was great!! The shower was exceptional and we had plenty of hot water.
We had several days of sunshine, so sitting on the deck, listening to the surf was very relaxing.
We are foodies and we had a lot of choices. In Lincoln City we ate at the Puerta Vallarta Mexican Restaurant, our favorite eatery in Lincoln City. In Newport, we ate at Mo’s Seafood Restaurant, great clam chowder. In Florence, we ate at the Three Rivers Casino in the sports bar. Their portions are quite large. We had enough left over for lunch the next day.
On our final night, after packing the car for our trip home, we ate at Hilltop Cafe Bistro. We went there because of a picture of their French Onion Soup on their website. Absolutely one of the best French Onion Soups I’ve had. We will definitely go there again.
We brought our dog with us and she settled in quite well. We were glad we could bring her with us.
We look forward to returning to Palmer’s Place the next time we visit the Oregon Coast.
Thanks for the nice review. We are happy that you enjoyed your trip and look forward to possible hosting you on your next trip to the area. Take care and thanks again!
Very comfortable home
As this was my first experience with a VRBO property, I did not know what to expect; I am 100% satisfied with the entire process of booking the property as well as my stay. Palmer Place is a very comfortable place with just about everything you could want for your stay. The property is just a short walk to the ocean but provides a nice view of the water from the deck. I would recommend this property to anyone and I plan on using it again when I plan my next visit to the Oregon coast. The owner Leif was easy to work with and did his best to make sure everything went well for us. This is a great property if you have a dog - my pup definitely felt at home!!!
Thanks for the nice review Bob. You were a pleasure to host and are welcome back anytime you like. We plan on doing some remodeling inside, and hopefully a new deck with stairs to the yard this upcoming year that will make the experience even better next time. Thanks again and take care!
Awesome get away!
The house was awesome, very clean and pleasantly surprised by how well the house was stocked. Fridge had condiments to use. Cupboard was stocked with lots of spices, plastic cups, paper plates, and adult beverages! Garage fridge had soda and beer for everyone.Very pet friendly, dog bed and bowls. Ping pong table in the garage was a lot of fun! Fire pit outside was perfect for the evening. 10 minute walk to the beach! Washer and dryer if needed. Owner responds quickly, very easy to talk with, even let us have a early check in! We had a great stay, and defiantly recommend this beach house! Want to book another stay already!
Thanks for the nice review, I am new to the rental industry but pride myself on providing a positive place for guests to enjoy with their friends and family. We are very happy that you had a great stay! Looking forward to hosting your group on another get away. We have some ideas hopefully implementing this summer that will make the house even more enjoyable:)
