The location is so convenient, the views are incredible, and the condo is nicely decorated and packed with every amenity you'll need, including two master bedroom suites, a full kitchen, Wifi, a pool, and central A/C.

Lagoon Center 526 has a great floorplan, with two bedroom suites separated by the living room and kitchen. One bedroom has a king bed and a TV. The many beach parks of Keaukaha are 15 minutes away. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a 45 minute drive. The major improvements to Saddle Road allow you to cross the island in about an hour and a half to explore the Kona and Kohala coasts.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Condo #526 in Lagoon Center is perfectly located in Hilo. While being located near the heart of town, the view of the lagoon and surrounding park cause you to feel as though you’re in your own little world. As perviously mentioned by another reviewer, there’s an elevator with service to the parking lot located just across the hall from the condo. We would have given the condo 5 stars but for a few problems. We got off to a slow start when our search of the condo failed to provide the coffee grounds needed to make that important first cup of coffee. Fortunately, there’s a great coffee shop within walking distance. This problem was solved by going to Target for coffee and other items, including shampoo, conditioner, and the body wash normally available in rentals. It should be noted that the master bath does not have running cold water in the sink and the grout in the shower could use either a major cleaning or re-groutting. Slippers were an easy solution. Overall this condo is a great value. We will bring coffee next time we stay in #526. 😃

Good Option

  • 4 of 5

Too be honest, we are not huge multi-unit building guests. Our last place in Hilo was a cottage that was more to our liking. That being said, the unit provided everything we needed, and was a good option. The location is central and pretty close to everything one needs (meaning food shopping, restaurants, and local flavor).

Where the unit let's it self down from obtaining a five in our book, was the faucet issue in the attached bath in the bedroom. The cold water had to be turned off by hand underneath the sink otherwise it would drip all night. We brought it to their attention, and just hope it was taken care of. The other is the metal surrounding the a/c units, they are just old and ugly. They function properly, they just look a fright. This could also be the humidity issue with Hilo in general.

The parking was close to the building which was nice, and having the side entrance and elevator was a plus. Just be aware the elevator has mostly dayish operating hours, but still handy.

We did not use the pool. The view was lovely and tranquil. Would we stay here again, maybe...if a single unit dwelling was not available and they attended to our issues, yes. Thank you.

Positively stunning!

  • 5 of 5

When we got to our "suite" we were absolutely floored. It was bigger than our home apartment, and could easily fit a family of four. We didn't even use half of the house. AND THAT VIEW! Absolutely stunning! The place was clean and well-kept, but not too sterile like a hotel either. Full kitchen with all the necessary amenities. Needless to say, we were in heaven. The rental company was responsive and attentive, even when I had a durpy stupid question. I will fight anyone to try to rent this place in the future! But I suspect once word gets out, it's hardly ever going to be available. If you can nab it, don't hesitate.

One nicety to note, during the daytime, there is a working service elevator across the hall that goes right down literally to the parking spot, very convenient, but I didn't figure it out until after we had moved in. It shuts off at around 6:30p though. Otherwise, you go through the front door, up and around, which is quite a bit further. See if you can find it when first going in and hauling bags.
