Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at this cabin. It is a great location as you dont have cell phone service which makes the vacation stay even better as you can forget about everything and just have a great time. The cabin is rustic but cozy. The biking/walking trail right in front of the cabin is awesome. Great grassy beach.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Damon, a pleasure to have you all back again this year. Per your suggestion, hope you enjoyed the new shower head installed this year. I like to refer to the cabin and our location as a little piece of heaven. Hope you can come again next year. Warmest regards, Bruce McCroskey

Great Vacation for kayaking and biking

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very cozy, it has everything you need for a great vacation, loved the patio. The access to the trail for biking/walking was perfect and the grassy beach was great we were able to leave our kayaks down there for the week. Harrison is a fun little town to walk around. Had a wonderful vacation.

Seniors stay at the cabin at lake CDA

  • 2 of 5

The view was wonderful and the access to the Lake super and the quiet awesome. But,

the cabin itself left a lot to be desired. It is old and the inside has not been updated in years. The need to bring your own drinking water was a nuisance as well as driving 30min to get your laundry done. It is a place for the hearty and those who do not need the comforts of home. (property not well maintained)

Owner's Response: As an owner I stay at my cabin each year at least 1 week.( It was built in 1978. As we raised our family of 3 girls we vacationed there each year. ) The reason I mention this is I want to be sure the cabin I rent is being maintained properly and is a fun place for people to stay. I am 88 years old and I want, also, to be sure the cabin is a comfortable place and an easy place to relax in and enjoy. You do not have to be hearty to come here. Ten years ago before renting the cabin I had a new metal roof installed, had new cement footings put completely around and under the cabin to be sure it was on solid footing, a new toilet installed, and a new ceiling put on the sleeping porch to make it look nicer. 5 years ago I had a brand new shower installed in the cabin. 4 years ago my neighbor and I shared the expense to have a brand new pump installed on the well which supplies the cabin and his house with water. The well is tested each year for purity ; but to be on the safe side as a landlord I asked my renters to bring bottled water for drinking and using the cabin well water for showering and washing dishes. This is the first and only complaint regarding bottled water in seven years of rental. Other guests have described the cabin as cozy with rustic charm. It has an old fashioned Franklin stove, wonderful rocking chairs , antique cupboard, and a large antique chest of drawers in the living room. I would hate to do away with this furniture for more updated ones. It would take away from the charm and ambience of the cabin which people love. There is not room for a stacked washer dryer in the cabin. Guests know this before renting as I list no washer dryer on cabin information. There is a Laundromat in St. Maries just 11 miles away. The people who complained about this rented from me for 3 years in a row and it never came up for discussion. This June I had herbicide put down to kill weeds, and brush cleared, just east of the cabin which accented the beauty of Douglas Firs. The current Guests at the cabin are staying a month August 16-Sept 13, 2014. This is their 3rd year at the cabin. My neighbor who resides most of the summer at the Lake mows the grass for both cabins and maintains both private beach areas very well. Yes he is a good freind and neighbor. Best Wishes, Bruce

Love the little red cabin!

  • 4 of 5

This is a sweet, cozy place with personality galore. It's great to be right next to the bike trail and have dock access so close. We put our kayaks down by the water and left them there for the whole week. Very handy. Good place for a family of 4 or for close friends who like being together. Fun to ride bikes into Harrison for a meal or to visit the great art gallery there, plus other businesses. BEAUTIFUL location.

Mary Minerva McCroskey State Park with terrific views of the country side as the road climbs up to a picnic area with tables. My Uncle Virgil gave this land and park to the state of Idaho in 1993. He also gave wooded land in this are to the Boy Scouts of America. As a young boy during the summers I helped Uncle Virgil build roads here.
