Perfect cozy HQ in the heart of Rainier
The title says it all: the cabin in Packwood is super cozy (wood burning fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, comfy bedrooms) and the location right on a bubbling stream couldn't be beat. We spent a couple nights here while exploring the Rainier area and it was a perfect jumping off point. Just about an hour drive to the Paradise hiking area and close to other amazing views. Highly recommended!
Cozy, rustic cabin close to Mount Rainier
Charming accommodations, adjacent river, and proximity to Mount Rainier National Park are all reasons to rent this cabin! The fireplace was amazing, and falling asleep in the loft bedroom was serene. Ann was an excellent host and extremely responsive. Heads up, the grill is a bit tricky, and needs a little work, but is definitely manageable. Overall a wonderful home base for a weekend of exploring!
My boyfriend and I felt quickly at home here! It was such a treat to drink coffee and watch the elk walk by in the mornings, and to make dinner in the kitchen at night. Thank you for creating a true retreat! (including from technology! I have AT&T and did not have reception in addition to no wifi at the house but it was very nice to be disconnected for a while! if you do need to connect, they have wifi at the IGA or the Mountain Goat Coffee)
Just a great overall experience!
Enjoyed staying at the Cozy Riverside Retreat and Ann is a great host! Centrally located to Mt. Rainier and Mt. St Helen plus Packwood was handy for all our supply needs. Loved sitting and relaxing after a long day hiking or waking up in the morning to watch the elk hang out. The cabin was just so homey with all the kitchen supplies a person would need....and very clean (that's big with me). Hope to make it back some day, I recommend it highly . Thanks for a great stay!
Nice cabin near Goat Rocks
We stayed in Ann's cabin for two nights in August of 2018. Overall, we had an great stay and found her to be an accommodating host. Ann quickly answered all of our questions and graciously allowed us to drop off refrigerated food prior to check-in so it did not sit in a hot car during a long day of hiking. She is clearly a very conscienscious host and the cabin was incredibly clean.
The cabin was spacious, close to hiking trails, and surprisingly cool for not having central AC (there is a window unit in the bedroom). Additionally, we found the kitchen to be very well stocked with cooking supplies.
Our only minor complaints are that we kept finding bugs/fruitflies inside (despite keeping things closed up) and the cabin is not quite as secluded we hoped. It is basically at the end of a residential street and several houses are nearby. That said, it was always very quiet.
Aside from this, we had a great visit and would recommend this location to others visiting Packwood
Stay 2 nights July 30th August 1st 2018. I live in Austin Texas originally from Silverdale Washington.my wife in 3 kids ages 21 23 and 29. We did a lot of hiking on Mount Rainier the weather was perfect. The burn ban was on so we could not have a fire but it worked out all okay. I would definitely do it again. We did see quite a few elk right at the cabin down by the river.
