The location and decor were great but the cleanliness and overall upkeep were very disappointing.
We were VERY disappointed in the cleanliness and upkeep of the unit we stayed in. The decor, location and amenities were all as expected but the smell and disgust kind if wiped all that away.
Fortunately for us this was just a place to lay our heads at night since we had friends nearby. Had this been our “home” during our stay we likely would not have stayed the duration of our stay.
Here is the list to help describe the shortfalls in housekeeping and upkeep:
Dirty/ DISGUSTING toilet
Standing water (ankle deep) during shower= severely clogged drain
Filthy/ urine stained, smelly tile
Stained sheets in master
Master bed mattress needs to be replaced it is very worn on one side which made for a terrible nights rest so we rotated who slept on that side
Stained carpet in master
Broken floor tiles in hallway
Holes in drywall kitchen/ bar area
Utility closet does not close/ secure
Air return is DIRTY full of dust
Master closet so full it is not usable by guests in fact the door wouldn't close
Moldy bathroom ceiling
Supply storage of paint and other items under bunk beds (not good for children)
Cable works poorly in master
FIVE remotes in master and command strip stuck to one of the remotes (I’ve never hung anything from a remote before)
Unused alarm clock on night stand
Lamp not even plugged in on night stand
Blood stains on lower bunk bed mattress cover (should be replaced)
No mattress cover on top bunk
It is hard for me to understand how these items have gone unnoticed not just to the housekeeping crew but by property management and other guests. I would think that there would be some sort of regularly scheduled walk through of all units to ensure they are kept to a standard.
We didn’t let this ruin our vacation we had a wonderful time it just put a little damper on things. When your 10 and 12 year old children notice smells and cleanliness you know it’s bad.
Great location! Unit could use updating & repair
Perdido Key was absolutely beautiful, relaxing and perfectly located for an amazing location! The water was clear and the public access for the Grand Caribbean was crowded, but a great location in the ocean with beautiful seashell hunting! The unit was decorated very cute and grew on me as the week progressed. My first impression, though, is that is was poorly maintained and in need of updating and repairs. The entry hallway tile is cracked in a good size area, the bedroom walls were scuffed up from furniture or luggage being moved around, the closet was full (no place for luggage or hanging clothes), the tub stayed stopped and unable to drain, the bunk bed bedding had hairs on it, the kitchen appliances were very outdated (probably early 80’s style), the bar was chipped at the base, the unit paint job was terrible, and the balcony door drug and hung up when opening and shutting it. It looked prettier at night with lamps and soft lighting. The pool and pergolas were amazing! The Barbque grills and picnic tables always smelled amazing and were a great idea for families! The gated area was comforting, but the (1) elevator was a bit frustrating as this unit is located on the end of the building. You had to load up carts and walk to the center of the building, a pretty good distance with many turns, just to go up and down. We used the 4 flights of stairs by our door to get to the ground floor unless we had beach stuff, luggage or groceries. It was a great leg workout! All in all we really enjoyed our stay mainly due to the beautiful beach and the central location between gulf shores, orange beach and Pensacola. We visited all of them effortlessly to eat and shop. We will definitely return to perdido key. It Won’t be to this unit if it is to this condo.
