About Alan & Peggy Belch
We live in Amador County and we love it! Amador County has so many opportunities for fun. There are lakes and streams for fishing; more than 40 wineries and many historic sites from the gold rush days. Jackson, the county seat, hosts a beautiful casino and the Kennedy Mine. Sutter Creek and Amador City are like a trip down memory lane with their historic sites and charming old buildings. Plymouth is quickly becoming the gateway to the Shenandoah Valley wine region and has award winning eateries and several shops on main street. We decided to by a vacation rental so we could share the area with others.
Alan & Peggy Belch purchased this House in 2017
Why Alan & Peggy Belch chose Plymouth
We purchased this home in early 2017 and began an extensive remodel. The original house was 100 years old and had been the rectory for one of the local churches. The house had no foundation and had several rooms added over the years. Most of the house had to be demolished and rebuilt to meet current building codes. We reused many of the original materials in the remodel. The window shutters are made of wood salvaged from the original walls. The door between the kitchen and laundry room is original and the dining room table top is reused decking from the original porch.
What makes this House unique
The kitchen in this home is fully set up so you can prepare your own meals or a quick snack. There is a bbq on the back deck for grilling. The yard is huge! Plenty of room for games and outdoor activities. There are several small fruit trees that should begin to produce fruit later this year. There is a wine fridge and large island for hosting a wine and cheese party. There is a Pack N Play crib and portable high chair available for small children.

Gold Rush Wine County getaway
We had a wonderful Easter weekend with our adult children. The property is pristine with thoughtful touches, such as cookies and a bottle of wine and beer upon arrival. The frig was even stocked with some water. The wrap around porch with seating, horse shoes and fire pit in the yard were great outdoor gathering spaces. Inside the furnishings and accessories are both charming and contemporary creating a very comfortable home. The town of Plymouth is small but has a grocery store and a few restaurants. It is a very good base camp for exploring the area. Comfy beds, linens and bathrooms including a heated floor. The home is designed to make a guest feel comfortable.
This is a beautiful property that has just been redone and has everything you could want and more! The gas firepit outside was an added bonus and we really enjoyed the indoor gas fireplace and heated floors. The entire home was spotless when we arrived. During the day, we were able to visit the local wineries and at night we either ate at one of the restaurants in downtown Plymouth (which we could walk to) or stayed in and cooked a nice dinner. The owners were wonderful with much attention to detail and made sure to provide everything that was needed for a comfortable stay. They even had a welcome gift for us and our dog waiting when we arrived, which was a nice surprise after a long drive. We were looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation and this house had exactly what we were hoping for. We will be back!
This house is nothing short of perfect. Besides the owners thinking of every single thing we might need they went above and beyond even that! We were supplied luxurious bath towels, beautiful bedding, lovely dishes and fun little extra touches. Simply amazing! The location is great, too. Two little blocks from downtown Plymouth and all it has to offer. We’ll always try to stay here from now on.
Thank you for such a kind review. Our hope is that all our guests enjoy their stay as much as you did. We look forward to having you and your friends back soon.
