We have vacationed in Hawaii since 1971 and finally moved here from San Francisco in 2003. We love the quiet neighborhood and tropical growth around us. We like to travel ourselves and we have set up the unit to resemble what we would like to have in a vacation rental.
Ed purchased this house in 2002
We vacationed on the Big Island for many years and we wanted to spread the Aloha to others. The unit is close to everything in town but not in the thick of traffic. It is also nice to go to the beach, but after the beach it is great to get out of the heat. At the 800 ft elevation the climate is cooler. The area is also better for tropical growth and the area is surrounded by large trees and flora.
The unit is set up like a home. When we went vacationing, we noted the items that we thought were very important to have. Many times, we would arrive late to our unit and we did not want to stop at a store and buy a boat load of items. So we do have basics kept in the unit.
We didn't have any guest reviews for most of 2013 because we were staying in the unit while we remodeled our home. May1 to jan 15, 2014
Absolutely stunning !! This place is truly a gem, you will love it at first sight. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Plumeria House. The unit is clean and well-maintained. The tropical landscaping and the peace and quiet of the neighborhood was wonderful. The owners are very pleasant and helpful. They have thought of everything to make their guests comfortable. Highly recommended.
We have come to regard Plumeria House as our home away from home. Connie and Ed are wonderful hosts and make every effort to make us comfortable. The Ohana is well maintained, located in a quiet residential neighborhood, just high enough up the mountain to enjoy cool breezes but not too far to make driving a hassle. There is an evening sunset view and lighted streets for after dinner walks. There is always a secure feeling of being in a wonderful home.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our great vacation while staying at Plumeria House. The unit is clean and well-maintained. We loved the tropical landscaping and the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. The owners are very pleasant and helpful. They have thought of everything to make their guests comfortable. There is so much to see and do in this area!
Plumeria House is our favorite place on the island to stay, perfectly located on a beautiful hillside, in a friendly, peaceful neighborhood, central to many beaches, as well as activities, and 5 mins. from Kailua-Kona.
Dreams do come true, we were able to stay for 2 months this time!
We loved waking each morning to the melodic song birds, so much so I made a recording to return home with!
The ohana is a generous size, private, clean and cools nicely without a/c.
The beach equipment available for guest use made our almost daily forays to one of several beaches complete.
Ed and Connie the owners, are the best, able to answer most questions, and have true aloha spirit!
We look forward to our next stay.
Happiness is....arriving at Plumeria House, our home away from home.
My hubby and I have stayed at the Plumeria House 4 times! We absolutely love it! It's spacious, immaculately clean, has lovely Hawaiian decor throughout (wait until you see the glorious way the bedroom has been painted) and is situated on a quiet hillside street which is lined with plumeria and tropical floral trees. The owners are very helpful regarding recommending places to visit....or you can stay in, relax and curl up with a good book from the Plumeria H. collection. The ocean is just a few minutes drive down the hill...the turtles are waiting....have fun!
Everything about this place is exactly as advertised. Nice setting in the Sunset area of Kona with a good elevation for cool nights. The owners Ed and Connie are really nice and were a wealth of information on our trip. We have vacationed in Kona over 12 times yet they still told us about places we have missed in the past.
Perfect sized one bedroom with unbeatable pricing. Very clean throughout with all the necessities for beach going. Fully equipped kitchen and outdoor grille. Patio area in a beautiful garden setting. Large selection of books for the readers out there. There is absolutely no reason to stay in a hotel with places like the Plumeria House out there.
