Seaside Oregon Vacation Home—Gorgeous views of the river and wildlife, close to the beach and town.
PICTURE WINDOWS LOOK OUT ON THE NECANICUM RIVER—PRIVATE, YET CLOSE TO THE BEACH AND TOWN
Heron's Rest is a 1910 cabin sitting on 5/8 acre along the Necanicum River north of downtown Seaside, Oregon. Facing west, the picture windows wrap around the front of the house providing hours of beautiful views of the river, estuary, animal life, and sunsets. The 5/8 acre yard offers a play area for kids and a lovely riverside sitting/BBQ area. Located just far enough from downtown to be a quiet secluded setting, the cabin is only 2 blocks from the 12th street bridge, a favorite crabbing location, and just an 8 minute walk (6 blocks) to the beach. The restaurants and shopping areas are a short 10 minute walk, or 2 minute drive away.
New gas furnace, water heater, dual-fuel convection oven and gas range, and gas washer/dryer. New queen pillow-top beds and new deluxe queen hida-a-bed.
WIRELESS INTERNET (WIFI)
The cabin is fully furnished for short or long stays. Two bedrooms without adjoining walls assure quiet evenings, and a queen sofa-sleeper allows for extra guests. There is ample ventilation and a ceiling fan to bring in the sea breeze. On cooler nights electronically controlled heating and electric blankets assure everyone gets a warm night sleep.
This is our home and we love it. The laughter of children, BBQs, birthdays, the 4th of July fireworks celebration with fires on the beach, the Hood-to-Coast Relay, volleyball tournaments, sandcastle contests and a hundred other celebrations have brought laughter and joy to this house. Since its construction in 1910, when a clam shell road linked Seaside with the Astoria train station, this house we call Heron's Rest has given rest, relaxation, comfort and joy to those who slept here.
From the picture windows you will enjoy hours of viewing as the wildlife passes on the river. Often herons are seen perched on the nearby trees or snags; eagles swoop in graceful curves as they fish for the days meal, and seals can be seen sneaking their way up river in search of salmon, crab or other local fish. We invite you to join those who have enjoyed this special place for your special occasions.

About Nick Vasilieff
Long time Oregonians that live, laugh, love and write at our charming 1910 cabin on the Oregon Coast.

Why Nick Vasilieff chose Seaside
Seaside is the perfect vacation spot only 1 hour from Portland. Heron's Rest is the perfect vacation cabin. One hundred thirty feet of river frontage, our 5/8 acre mini-park is secluded yet only only five blocks from the beach and a few more from town.
What makes this House unique
Lounging on the front lawn watching the world float by on the Necanicum River. Walk to Seaside's 3 mile beach, rent a surrey two blocks away, crab on the 12th St. bridge or stroll to town. Quiet, peaceful, serene on our 5/8 acre park-like retreat. Full westward facing picture windows accentuate the serenity of the river, fabulous sunsets, and daytime activities. Spend a quiet time napping in the hammock, reading in the adirondacks in the garden, or making s'mores around the outdoor firepit. Adventurers can camp in the yard, while others sleep comfortably in queen size beds. A ten minute walk, or two minute drive, takes you to our three mile beach and ocean fun. Hiking, building sand castles, flying kites or lying in the sun are just a few of the activities available along the water's edge. Closer, we have a bicycle and surrey rental only two blocks away, and fishing from the 12th Street bridge, or across the river. (There is no river access from our property, but there is walking access a block away).

Our 3rd year at Heron's Rest was just as wonderful as the first 2
The house is in a beautiful location right on the Necanium River. There are giant windows throughout. We see herons every year from the lovely big backyard with comfy chairs, a fire pit and 2 barbecue grills. The house itself is very well maintained and the layout is well organized. The communal space is large and the bedrooms are on the smaller side. All the details are understated but lovely--great beds, wonderful sheets, and a fully stocked kitchen with every pot, plate or cooking gadget you could want. It is also a quick walk to all of the "hotspots" of family friendly Seaside and the beach. We have been there for 2 week each time and intend to go again next summer.
Perfect, as usual!!
We stay here for a week every year for the past 3 years now. Every time it is even more amazing. The home is well taken care of and the property is gorgeous. It is only a short walk to the beach, boardwalk, and busy little down town.
Great family vacation
My family and I rented this home in seaside because I ran Hood to Coast. It was the perfect location, runners run right by the home!
We've got a 3 and 5 year old and they we're endlessly entertained with the games provided at the house and the large property to explore. My mom also came and brought her dog, and they both enjoyed the property as well.
We felt right at home here and couldn't have asked for anything better. It's the perfect family vacation rental.
Fantastic waterfront retreat on a tidal river, very comfortable, a bit funky and everyting you need.
We stayed a week at Herons Roost in Seaside. The owners were great to work with and we enjoyed the quaint home right on the water. When we arrived there were over 30 elk on the other side of the river. We frequently saw heron and even had a dear with her fawn on the yard. We enjoyed sitting outside by the fire pit in such a relaxing environment. Our family had rented 4 other VRBO's in Seaside and ours was hands down the nicest view. A short walk to the North end of the promenade put you right on the beach. I would highly recommend this property.
Quite, Comfortable, Unique
Our 3rd visit to Heron's Rest was wonderful as expected. This was our longest stay~a FULL week! :) Although our 3 kids are getting bigger now, we all still fit comfortably in this cute little house. This visit, all of us brought our bikes to ride the streets and promenade~which is really quick to reach via bike. We always enjoy visiting the aquarium and feeding the seals. Cruising the main strip to include the Carousel Mall, Fultano's, Pig 'N Pancake, The Buzz candy store, and The Candyman for ice cream (because we're special!). This visit we especially enjoyed our day trip to Tillamook for our normal factory visit with samples and ice cream, but this time, we spotted the 18 hole putting green across the street and had a great time!! :) Another day we ventured out to Elsie to eat brunch at Camp 18 and wander the grounds. It was GREAT!! Back at the cabin, we really enjoyed the new chairs and new brick fire ring out back by the river for smores on the cooler evenings that we had this visit. We were happy to see the Heron several times in tree right out back as well. Communication before, during, and after our stay has been both timely and excellent with the owners. We love having this place as a home base~it's centrally located to venture out from and cozy to return too. We definitely look forward to returning!!
Enjoyable place to stay!
The Heron's Rest provided a comfortable and relaxing stay in Seaside for our guests. The cabin was very clean and the backyard was delightful to sit and watch the deer and also the resident heron!
