My husband and I are a little older and just love the mountains but not the craziness of all the tourist attractions. The cabin was perfect for us, very private, comfortable and clean ! We never went into town, but we really liked carvers Apple Orchard, Farmers Market and Restaurant !!
Slept like Babies !!!!
My husband and I booked this cabin for our Summer vacation and just loved it !!! We like being out in nature, hiking, tubing etc, and this cabin was perfect !! Every night we used the fire pit and then relaxed in the Hot Tub !!
Perfect for our family vacation !
This cabin was just perfect for our family !! The kids loved playing in the yard and toasting marshmallows at the bon fires at night. My husband and I loved the hot tub after the kids went to sleep !! It was just what we needed. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to escape the craziness of life !!!!
Tennessee is amazing however our cabin not so much.
Cabin is very cute inside however.....upon arrival....microwave didn't work, hot tub didn't work, refrigerator had a bunch of water sitting inside of it with a crack in the bottom so it was also running into the drawers in bottom. We cleaned it out and put our food in it. The next day we went to pigeon forge and got home everything in refrigerator was warm and part of it had to be thrown away....there was cobwebs all over inside. Instructions said to put trash in receptacle outside.....there is none. To put dishes in dishwasher and clean before leaving.....there isn't one. Went to do dishes by hand and there's no dish rags and had to buy dish soap cause there wasn't enough to do a few dishes left in bottle. We had 4 wash clothes for showers. We had 4 people there for 4 days so had to go buy those. Pulled pans out to cook and pans and utensils were all nasty and dirty. One pan was completely rusted inside. We also had no lighting outside on deck or entrance. No light bulbs. This is the 6th cabin I've stayed in here in Tennessee and by far the worst. Never had a single problem at any of the others. With all this being said our trip was not very enjoyable. We had to spend a lot of unplanned money on things that we shouldn't have had to buy. Couldn't use anything we brought to put in microwave, half our food spoiled due to fridge quitting, had to buy wash clothes, dish soap, dish rags.....etc.etc.etc. Very disappointed. Feel we should be refunded for having to pay a cleaning fee on an already dirty cabin and for all the things we had to buy and all the food that spoiled. Not to mention we also had to share our cabin......with a lizard running around inside....
Overall, we were very happy with the cabin. My two young kids, loved the yard, loved being able to have a fire. Beds were super comfy! It was pretty cleaned, plenty of towels. The hot tub didn't work, for us it wasn't a big deal, we probably wouldn't have used it much. Felt like we were in the country, but weren't to far away from all the excitement. Roads were great, had some heavy rain, so there was potholes, which was expected. Jeff was very quick to get back to us when we had a question. Did have a few problems with the TV, but nothing we could not fix. _Pictures did make it seem like there was a lot more land, but we were very happy with it!
Tired old cabin
Our stay at Bear Hook was somewhat disappointing. When we arrived we found the grass half cut and the remainder was a good foot high. The part that had been cut had grow and needed to be cutting. The microwave did not work as had been reported by other reviews. The refrigerator had a crack in the bottom shelf and dripped water. This was evidently known as a small bowl was there to try and catch the water. A made do type thing, this was also talked about in previous reviews.
There was no outside trash cans (bear proof or not) to put kitchen trash so we had to take it to the local depot about 3 miles down the road. I can only assume it was because of potential animals. We stayed there 4 days so it was necessary. In addition no toiletries were available..hand soap etc, so we had to make a run to Walmart about 3 miles down the road.
Now to the positives, it was secluded and away from most everything. The owner manager seemed responsive so that was good. There were plenty of towels and dish soap. Overall it was real average and may be a bit less.
