About the property

You can hear the ocean from this excellent island location! Just 3 houses from the beach, this unique one bedroom flat with queen bed, comfy couch, kitchen, walk-in cedar closet, bathroom with shower is a great place to relax, surf or just enjoy a walk collecting shells. The apartment is located on the ground floor of the 3.5 story house. The lot is very shady with lots of trees and vegetation; therefore, the apartment doesn't get a whole lot of natural light. But during the summer months, it is the perfect oasis to escape the sun and heat of the beach – there's nothing like walking on cool tile floors after a long hot day on the beach.

This prime location is just a short walk down the beach to Wild Dunes Resort, where you can grab lunch and drinks poolside, or enjoy world-class golf. There's also close by the Isle of Palms Marina, restaurants, and Harris Teeter grocery is a couple miles away. You literally won't have to leave the island for anything!

We do accept friendly, housebroke dogs - preferably pups 40 pounds or under. Larger dogs will definitely be considered, feel free to inquire.

***PET FEE: $20 PER NIGHT – PER PET. This is not included in your reservation. The pet fee will be due upon arrival and payable in cash please. *NO CATS!! – we do love them, but not in our rental because of the potential for spraying.

Why Cristina Young chose Isle of Palms

The ground floor apartment is located in an architecturally unique beach house that was designed by the owner/architect, GM. She as been on Isle of Palms since the late 1970s. You won't find an unnatural manicured lawn on this property as it is surrounded by natural island vegetation that's native to the sea islands of South Carolina. This eclectic apartment with it's open floor plan is approx. 1,012 sqft. It has a private entrance - no stairs or steps – and an outdoor covered seating area for guest to enjoy. Inside you will find exposed brick walls and redwood (imported from the west coast), tile floor, cozy sitting room with it's own private sand dune outside, dining table, couch, walk-in cedar closet, tiled shower, and plenty of privacy. The kitchen is equipped with full size fridge and stove.

**Please note: there is no television or LED screen in the apartment, but there is high-speed wireless internet. So if you need entertainment, other than the beach, please bring your laptop or hand-held device for wireless streaming.

Very interesting apartment but was very dark inside and had a musty odor. Bed was comfortable and apartment provided everything we needed for our short stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for pointing out the musty odor. I was in there earlier that day and didn't notice it. However, since the apartment is located on ground level – and we have had a very cold and wet winter here in Charleston – we haven't had the opportunity to open up the windows and doors to air it out for a prolonged period. We would rather the apartment be warm and comfy for you in February instead of opening up all the doors and windows during cold months. There are two air purifiers going in there 24/7, so you're the first to mention a musty smell. As for it being dark, the photos pretty much show how it looks inside. It's on the ground floor and located on a very shady lot that has many mature oaks trees and shrubs. Only the south side of the house receives light during the day. It is, however, a serene oasis of shade and coolness after a long, hot day on the beach.
