About Eve Gentieu
I first came to Charleston from Philadelphia in 1975 to attend the College of Charleston and ended up staying. I taught middle school science, became a rural carrier for the post office, and most lately worked in an elementary school as librarian. Now that I have retired, I have become migratory between Philadelphia and Mt Pleasant as I love the northern winters and the southern summers and have family in both places. Nature is my passion, and my summer ritual is to walk the Sullivan's Island beach at daybreak looking for the tracks of nesting loggerhead turtles who lay eggs between mid-May and mid-August. Wherever I am, I spend time hiking, bicycling, and birding.
Eve Gentieu purchased this House in 1990
Why Eve Gentieu chose Old Village
We were renting in this neighborhood from 1977 and loved the location, so bought a house. This was way before Mt Pleasant became the hot spot it is today.
What makes this House unique
I love being so close to the marsh, the beach, and downtown. I love being able to ride my bike through the Old Village to downtown, or out to the beaches. The neighborhood is quiet, green, and friendly.

Comfortable and convenient!
We needed to be close to the Medical University of South Carolina for a surgery and were unsure of our departure date. Eve was very understanding and flexible which was such a relief during a stressful time. The location is great for running in to Charleston, which we did everyday. The house was just what we needed and the fenced back yard was great for the two little dogs we had with us. We would definitely stay again.
Great location, reasonable price, clean, safe neighborhood.
We stayed 5 nights in Mt. Pleasant. The location was perfect, we could be to the beach in 5 minutes, downtown Charleston in 20 mins. The home was very clean and provided all the essentials and then some. Having beach towels and chairs provided was wonderful, the use of 2 bicycles was amazing. It is a great neighbourhood to bike around in and the park on the end of Pitt Street is amazing. I watched pelicans fish, observed school children planting new oyster habitats and if you are lucky you may even see a dolphin. Isle of Palms beach, 10 mins away, is a must if you enjoy looking for seashells and during low tide you can find sand dollars. Sullivan's island is only 5 minutes away. We walked on the beach every night.
The owners were great to work with and responded to questions in a very timely matter. You can't beat this home for the price and location.
will stay again.
It was a pleasure having Paul and company at the house. Will be happy to welcome them back.
