Wesley Carter (my mother) lives in the front part of the main house. We respect your space and privacy, however we are just a phone call or knock on the door away. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns. We would love to offer tips about the area, things to do, fun restaurants or bars etc. My wife went to college here and is from the area and I have lived here for seven years so whatever you would like to do we can definitely point you in the right direction.
Our house is located on a safe dead-end street a block from Shem Drive which is on the water. You can walk or ride bikes to all of the restaurants in the Shem Creek area or others around the corner from our house. The beach is 3 miles away and about a 15-minute bike ride. Historic Downtown Charleston is about a 10-15 min car or Uber ride.
Historic downtown Charleston is a 15 minute ride while the beach is a short 3 miles away. A typical Uber to the downtown area costs around $15 (without surging). We also provide two bikes for your use. We simply ask that you use the locks provided.
Other things to note:
Enjoy all of the art throughout The Charleston Carriage House. The piece above the couch was painted by my grandmother and Wesley Carter (my mother) is a local artist and has painted and created much of the art hanging throughout. Her local artwork makes for a great memento from your trip if you see a piece you fall in love with! You can also check out our art and home decor brand online called The Blue Coast Company!
