California Cottage is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home with a lovely secluded backyard for relaxing in and a/c for those warm summer days.

Part of a duplex with La Jolla Cottage, the California Cottage has its own private back yard, garage, entrance and laundry facilities.

The home features a large, private fenced in backyard with BBQ and seating for 6, private laundry and just 2.5 blocks from Windansea Beach. Perfect for families, this relaxing retreat in only a short distance to La Jolla Shores, Sea World and UCSD.

Inside you will find a inviting living room with electric fireplace, and dining area with seating for 6.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and in the summer there is a portable a/c if needed. Relax in bed while watching your favorite show on the flat screen HD tv.

The guest bedroom has 2 twin beds, which would be great for kids.

There is 1 bathroom located in between the 2 bedrooms, which has a tub/shower combination.

This is a great cottage for your San Diego beach getaway.


No Smoking is allowed inside any of our properties. You are welcome to smoke in outside areas of the home.

The home is Pet Friendly - but we ask you not to leave pets unattended to bark or destroy the home. Please keep crated when not at home or bring with you.

We chose to buy a vacation rental in this area as this is where we always want to live and in retirement we would like to live in this rental.

What makes this cottage unique

Most people love to utilize the boogie boards, beach wagon, bikes and beach toys.

It is such an easy stroll to the beach particularly if you want to load up the wagon with your icechest full of food and towells etc.

The Farmers Market every Sunday morning is a real treat and lots of our guests visit to listen to music, buy the flowers and organic fruits and vegies and also to eat the great food.

Good Choice!

This was our first time with a month long vacation rental and we were not disappointed. The accomodations were as advertised, Michelle was extremely helpful with anything that came up (including having her daughter pet sit our two dogs when we overnighted on Catalina Island), and the neighborhood and La Jolla location were top notch. Don't miss dining at the Marine Room, George's, Jack's, or Trattoria Acqua and try the carry outs at Mandarin House and Sante. Jonathan's Market was a find for excellent (albeit somewhat pricey) meats, seafood, and produce. Outside La Jolla, we enjoyed field trips to the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, Cabrillo (Point Loma), Coronado (have lunch at the Del), the aforementioned Catalina Island, Torrey Pines State Preserve, and dining in Del Mar at Jake's and Il Fornaio. And the German cuisine at Kaiserhof in San Diego was outstanding!

My family and I enjoyed a very nice stay at this cottage. It is spacious, comfortable, and in a great location. Our dog appreciated the backyard as much as we did - it is so green! As a family, we enjoyed walks to local restaurants and, of course, the beautiful beaches. We will be back!

Adaquate and not secure

Walk to the beach is easy.

Walk to park east of the home is easy 3 minutes or less.

Gas stove and oven



No dishwasher-Washed all dishes before use, plastic ware in abundance.

Bed was hard, had to buy an air mattress

No fan or venting for gas stove-hole in the ceiling.

When walking to the beach make sure to cross at a stop light La Jolla blvd is full of speeders and I saw two people almost get hit crossing the street.

Back yard is not private. The neighboring property walks through day and night leaves the back garage door open and their gate to their patio open. One set of tenants left the roll up garage door open all night. It is not secure and you are responsible for any losses.

Anyone can come in the back yard from the street through the side gates to the trash cans and access the "toy" you are responsible for, through the back door of the garage, it is not secure at all.

Disturbances were almost constant-Lawn crews just appeared in the back yard and had gates open to the street.

Impossible to park and load and unload your vehicle.

The whole 18 days I was the City of San Diego had no parking posted along the whole street, there was no street parking since the people living there had all the spaces and the driveway is impossible to park on because of the pitch.

Jack hammering almost daily and loud construction noises constant. It was not quiet there at all more like living in a construction zone.

The inside of the property was obvious need of renovations to the bath tub and the kitchen sink since it appears someone "painted" the porcelain to cover up the chips and flaws. It looked dirty. The flooring was not installed correctly for the transition to the bathroom tile and the wood laminate.

The hot water heater one for each unit was located in the garages (which can not be used for cars because of the amount of stuff in them) had a brand new gas vent on the neighbors unit but the larger unit I was staying in the vent was rusted, closed and crumbling on the roof. I suspect that is not code but they over looked it because of the window in the garage.--Open the window so you don't get overcome with CO2 fumes since the water heater is not vented and with two dryers and another water heater in the same "air space" it is a health hazard.

No cooling in the unit & becomes extremely hot when windows are closed.

Over all I guess I expected the home to not be is disrepair since prices are as high as in Steamboat Spring

Get Away From The Heat

The cottage is 2 blocks from the beach. It's an older.duplex but it's clean and has all essentials.

We cooked at home a few times to save money for other activities.

Only bad was some of the beach equipment was in poor repair.
