About Mark McNown

Retired contractor.

Mark McNown purchased this house in 2005

Why Mark McNown chose Southwest

I started visiting Pagosa as a boy of 6 years old. My grandfather had a smaLL fishing cabin on the Blanco river. I continued to enjoy Pagosa and watch it grow into the community it has become. The outdoor atmosphere and fresh air keep me coming back.

What makes this house unique

I have been a snowboarder for 18 years now and Wolf Creek is still my favorite area. Minimal lift lines and the best snow in Colorado. I have started to enjoy xcountry skiing. There is a trail across the street and many, many groomed trails 3 miles up the road in forest lands. In the summer I ride both my mountain bike on the many trails and ride my cruiser to the Pagosa Brewery and restaurants. I am a tennis player and the courts are a mile away. I have started to play pickelball, there are three indoor courts at the community center in downtown Pagosa. We are about 30 members strong. After all the exercise a soak at the springs feels soooo good.

Great home away from home!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Pagosa Springs. This home truly made us feel at home! The neighborhood was very quaint with a lot of trees. The kitchen/living room was comfortable with a lot of natural light. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes, cooking utensils, etc. Evenings we kicked up our feet on the recliner sofas, enjoyed the gas fireplace, and had great family time playing board games. (games on the top shelf above the washer/dryer:-) The bathrooms both looked newly remodeled and as always it was great to have two bathrooms for families. Our family slept on the queen and king beds. Both beds were very comfortable. (king in the master has the bonus of a remote control to change elevation and massage you! )

The Pagosa Springs area offers great winter activities within short drives. We skied at Wolfe Creek (approximate 35 minute drive ) for the first time. It was very busy for Spring Break but a good selection of runs for different skill levels and still plenty of snow on the ground. The lines were longest at the food venues so we will bring our own lunch next time. We drove to Durango for the day and skied Purgatory (approximate hour and a half drive) and had dinner in their historic downtown. We rented snow shoes in town and the shop recommended great scenic trails that still had a lot of snow. OUR FAVORITE NEW ACTIVITY --- DOGSLEDDING!!!!! Call Pagosa Dogsled Adventures and make a reservation!!! And, of course, the hot springs for a relaxing evening/sunset.

You will find good restaurants and cute shops in both uptown and downtown. Some we enjoyed were Riff Raff for great nachos, burgers, house made chips and beer; The Lost Cajun for red beans and rice and beignets; The Rose for awesome breakfast; Kip's for great salsa fresca, tacos, etc.; Marconi's for Italian; Higher Grounds for an afternoon cappuccino.

Beautiful Home - Wonderful Memories Made

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our vacation in this home...it was the perfect vacation for our family of 4 adults, 1 kid and 2 dogs. The location is perfect to get into Pagosa and go to the movie theater/restaurants and do tons of sledding with our son. Backyard was perfect for building a snowman and watching the dogs romp around. Having access to the garage was a huge benefit! It was truly an amazing time. Pagosa was perfect for a long 2 week vacation and we are already trying to figure out our next trip!

Your perfect home away from home in Pagosa Springs

  • 5 of 5

We just loved our Christmas holiday in this beautiful home! Thank you Mark and Cindy for making our stay comfortable and your home so welcoming! The kitchen is well equipped for any masterful chef to whip up a holiday meal. The bedrooms were spacious and beds adequate for six guests to have a good nights' sleep. Even our dog had a great time exploring the neighborhood and the wilderness trails across the street. We enjoyed Wolf Creek for skiing, the hot springs for soaking in the evenings, church, stores and restaurants all within easy drive from home. This is our second time in Pagosa Springs but our first time to stay in your home. We love Pagosa Springs and would never think of coming back without staying in this perfect home away from home.

Great house. Great location. Great Spring Break.

  • 5 of 5

We spent Spring Break at this house and it was well suited for two adults, three kids and three dogs. It was perfectly situated in Pagosa Springs. Close enough to the city and all the eating establishments (Kips, Riff-Raff, Lost Cajun) but right across the street from hiking in the snow. House had everything we needed especially the fireplace and garage. Hopefully can go back and enjoy the house in the summer. Wolf Creek is a great ski area and Pagosa Springs in a great little city to enjoy for a week.

Beautiful home! Look no further.

  • 5 of 5

We spent Christmas week on Dutton this year with our adult children. We were all delighted with the house. The kitchen was outfitted well for two master cooks, the backyard perfect for a dog who loves to fetch, the bedrooms and bathrooms were beautifully appointed, and, our favorite, the fireplace, was amazing.

The skiing at Wolf Creek was perfect. It's a really nice, well organized ski resort. Pagosa is a delightful town with great places to hang out. Our kids spent a lot of time at Pagosa Brewery and for my birthday, we ate at Alley Grill, a great dinner!

Mark was very responsive and great to work with - I loved his request that we love his home as he does and treat it accordingly! It is indeed worthy of such treatment.

Comfortable home in quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, plus a grown son and his wife enjoyed the Christmas holidays in this comfortable home. They allowed us to bring along our dog which was a plus. We loved the large living room, especially the fireplace. We enjoyed cooking in most of the time, but did enjoy eating out especially the Pagosa Brewery, and Marconis (Italian). Because of the lack of snow, we didn't snowmobile, which is why we always come here. We enjoyed the Casino and bowling in Ignacio and several drives away from town to see the wildlife-eagles, turkeys, deer, and elk. We also hiked up to the frozen springs on Williams Creek for some photographs. The property was clean and well taken care of. We will definitely recommend this property to our friends
