Overall it was great! Perfect location. :)
A perfect family home !
we are very satisfied with the weekend we spent in this wonderful house. the house was clean and the atmosphere very relaxing. we communicated twice with Marc and he answered us quickly. The whole family wants to come back. Thank you Marc for your flexibility with our request .
Patricia & Family,
Wonderful to have you! Thanks for taking such good care of the house during your stay as well, hope you had a nice holiday!
Cozy, well maintained property in a very central location. Owner was very responsive
Thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend stay in Ogunquit. The house is large, well maintained and located in the heart of town, within walking distance to beaches, restaurants, shops and the marginal way. The owner of the property is very responsive and interested in making sure the house meets your needs. There is a washer and dryer, dishwasher, and lots of extra equipment for beach use like floats, umbrellas and bikes. Also an upstairs outdoor patio which was nice to relax on as well as an outside table at ground level. I highly recommend this property.
Perfect location, less than perfect home
The house was fine, but very hot, had an active beehive on property and several items were in less than perfect condition (coffee pot didn’t work, DVDs missing, under beds and dressers and all fans loaded with dust). The owner was extremely pleasant to deal with upfront but as soon as we didn’t agree on something he turned nasty. Told me I was not his only priority and to stop bothering him when I was trying to learn how much security deposit he would take. My sister was stung by bees and had to vacate emergently the last day because she is allergic and Marc was disgusted by the mess left behind. We had a bunch of kids and family members there so I understand that he was put off and fairly so, but he was mean and rude even when I called and was kindly trying to speak with him. He accepted zero accountability for the nest and told me it was my fault for not reporting the nest to him. We whole-heartedly disagreed on this point, but he had the power because he had my money.
As for the house, location was fantastic, lots of parking, lots of space. Not a great breakfast area for large group unless you eat outside.
I highly recommend you record and send Marc a list of everything that doesn’t work or is missing or he will blame you for it as he doesn’t have someone to do this for him after each guest leaves. We got blamed for multiple things that were not our doing. Frankly I would never stay here again because I wanted a vacation not to micromanage someone’s property and then spend 2 hours washing all the towels and the sheets only to get security deposit removed for not emptying garbage and cleaning the kitchen and get blamed for things we did not do.
This guest was very nice and amenable when they arrived. I always communicate with guests when they arrive to see if everything is to their liking. These guests said they loved the house, the location, the amenities and they thanked me for the welcoming gift basket that I sent along for their arrival.
The issues started with the guest's use of the studio (which is rarely rented and used and was cleaned the week before their arrival). They complained that the space was dusty and had a musty smell. I immediately refunded them 50% of the rental in exchange for them doing their own cleaning. This gesture was more than generous, as I don't want a guest to leave less than happy with their experience.
Each guest is supposed to launder their linens and towels (if they don't bring their own) and do a basic cleanup of the house. When my cleaning person arrived there was trash overflowing from all the waste baskets, food on the counter, rugs filthy, the trash not brought to curb which meant it didn't get picked up, linens not finished and left wet in the laundry. The person I was communicating with indicated they she left early and her sister stayed behind to finish cleanup. The sister apparently was stung by a bee outside of the house and just left the house in total disarray. When I communicated the findings to the guest they got all pissy with me, started demanding to know when they would get their security back. This woman texted me all hours of the day and evening, called me and made me nearly insane.
The house was cleaned, trash removed, rugs sent out to be cleaned and the bumble bee's nest removed within a day. I deducted only $100 from the security deposit. My cost far exceeded that as I needed to drive 400 miles to view the mess myself and make the property cleaned and available for the next guest.
As for the coffee maker not working, not something I knew about, as no prior guest made any mention of it. It might have just broken. Otherwise, I would have had a new coffee maker delivered the same day!
I would not recommend this guest to other property owners, with their real downfall being a lack of communication.
This property was full of character and in a wonderfully convenient location.
Our 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated in this 1920's shingled house with our two sons and their families- 9 in all. It was in a perfect location for walking to the beach; visiting a playground down the street; eating in nearby restaurants, and shopping downtown. We loved grilling out in the side yard and eating at the wooden picnic table. There were plenty of bedrooms for our family and Marc had a well stocked kitchen for cooking 'at home'. We made good use of the deck on top of the house, as well as the upstairs and downstairs tv rooms.
We enjoyed the beautiful beach scenery and trips to Boston for a Red Sox game, lobstering in the bay, and taking the lovely Perimeter walk. Spending the day in Portland and walking around the lighthouses was fun, as were the trips to Perkins Cove.
Marc is a great landlord and was easily accessible for answering questions.
It was very special to be together as a family in number 12 School Street. I highly recommend this property.
Let me start by saying the homeowner (Marc) is a true professional and great pleasure to deal with. He made my family and I feel both at home and comfortable, even before arriving at his house. The location of the house is perfect. It's located right in the village, literally steps from Ogunquit Beach, shopping, a playground, trolley stops, marginal way, etc. and also has a nice view of the ocean. The house itself was recently nicely renovated. There is plenty of room with a wonderful upstairs deck which is perfect for relaxing, sunbathing and/or entertaining. There isn't a lot of yard space for entertaining (which makes the deck great), but a nice big picnic table on the side of the house with a grill. The amount of essentials Marc has is extremely helpful, such as beach chairs and beach toys, along with a fully stocked kitchen, board games, and movies. My family and I really enjoyed our stay and dealing with Marc was seamless. We hope to rent this house again very soon. Thanks again for everything Marc.
This home is less than 150 yards from the beach, shopping, restaurants, a movie theater, churches and houses of worship, the town library and with trolley service being available less than 150 feet from the home. The home was substantially renovated in the Spring of 2010 with new baths, furnishings, interior/exterior painting, new patio, outdoor dining for 12 and an outdoor shower!
There is a separate studio that is available from time to time... can be used for a larger party or a private suite for guests.
