Great get-away to experience Costa Rican nature
I stayed at this property with a friend for seven nights in mid-March. It was perfect for a relaxed stay. We each had our own room and private bath. The water is from a deep well and is safe for drinking and bathing. The WIFI was super speedy and the AC was very effective at keeping the house cool and comfortable. We did most of our own cooking (the kitchen was well equipped), but had several great meals in town (Tico-Mex has the best fish tacos and El Terruño De Ronital had a great prix fixe menu with traditional Costa Rican fare). The hosts and on-site caretaker were very responsive and helpful and available to help and answer questions. The house and surrounding area is very private and we felt safe and comfortable walking around the area at all hours. The owner has two good bicycles that are available to renters. We were in Costa Rica for birding - and we saw so many species just on the property and along the access road - yellow-throated toucan, white-collared seedeater, golden-hooded tanager, many kinds of parrots, flycatchers, and woodpeckers, etc.. - as well as monkeys and iguanas. The Taskita Jungle lodge is only a short drive (or bike ride) away - and it is easy to set up guided birding hikes in the tropical forests and fruit orchards there (for a small fee). We watched sunsets every evening from a private beach only about a block away from the house. Pavones Point is a very short drive or bike ride (2 km) or 20 minute walk - where one can watch surfers (or surf) or swim in the Rio Claro. Miles and miles of private beaches are nearby to explore. Overall - a great place to relax and enjoy the south Pacific lowlands.
