It's a Shore Thing
If you're looking for a great escape, look no further that Pungo's Paradise at 683 Smith Shore Road in Belhaven, NC. This completely updated, waterfront cottage on the banks of Pungo Creek offers something for everyone. Whether you seek adventure and play or rest and relaxation, it's a sure thing on the shore!
This raised, brick house with central heat and air sleeps six in three bedrooms (two with twin beds and a master with a California king). There is also extra room for children on two, large comfy sofas. The main bath has a tub/shower and the master bath features a walk-in shower. Keep up with the laundry using the convenient, indoor washer and dryer (or the outside clothes line!).
The huge kitchen is fully equipped and has a convenient cooking deck and grill just steps away. But don't worry! You won't feel like you are missing anything as you whip up a meal because you can still enjoy the gorgeous water views and keep you eye on your kids looking through the full bank of windows in the adjacent sunroom. You may even catch a glimpse of the porpoises swimming by!
If you don't fully want to cut the wire while on vacation, you can connect your own entertainment to our large screen Smart TV and log on with high-speed internet/wifi access.
This locale is paradise for water lovers! The pier just outside the back door is perfect for swimming with a sandy bottom. Try your luck catching dinner - crabbing and fishing. Bring your own boat, sailboat, or jet skis to tie up to the dock at the cottage for quick access. (Several boat launches are nearby.) Or, explore inlets and coves using the kayaks available onsite. If you're more interested in resting, lounge chairs, hammock, and a perfect shade tree are part of the package too.
At the end of a full day on the creek, you can always take a leisurely stroll or bike ride through the close-knit, safe Smith Shore community without worrying about traffic speeding by.
On the off chance you ever want to leave, there are some cool day trips to consider. Check out the quaint shops and restaurants just 10 minutes away in downtown Belhaven, including Spoon River, which has been featured in Our State Magazine. Historic Bath (NC's oldest town) and the "Original" Washington are both fun and educational as well. Or hop on a ferry to Aurora to hunt for sharks teeth at the Fossil Museum or take a longer cruise over to Ocracoke to see the lighthouse and meet "high tiders" at Howard's Pub. If you want to travel by boat, we are just one mile from the intracoastal waterway and a short trip to the Pamlico Sound.
