A real gem on the Lucca hills

Bedrooms 4
Space 1,614 sq. ft.
Property type chateau / country house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

4 bedrooms, 3 baths with Tuscan hills view

This beautiful country house has been meticulously restored and brought back to life after a long and painstaking restoration achieved over a number of years by very caring owners. New to the rental market in 2014, it is a very welcoming and charming place.

Each room in the villa is comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated in beautiful colors and really great fabrics. The living room is large with a few separate seating areas. The TV/game room is a wonderful space, a few steps up from the living room. It features a large screen TV and plenty of seating. There is WiFi in all areas of the house.

Throughout the villa, there are surprising little areas for reading, writing, daydreaming or just enjoying a little quiet time. The same holds true for the outside areas, beautifully maintained and offering many different ways to experience the remarkable views that the Villa commands over the Lucca valley.

The dining room has a great table and easily accommodates eight in a cozy setting which features an exact restoration of the antique fireplace. There are double doors leading out to a covered terrace which also has a dining table and chairs (and a wonderful view as an added bonus). The kitchen maintains its rustic charm but is fully equipped with all conveniences (stove, oven, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, etc.) as well as a full complement of dining and serving pieces. There is a utility room off the kitchen with washer, drying racks, cleaning implements, iron and ironing board. This floor also contains a full bath with shower.

The second floor of the Villa houses all four bedrooms, making them ever so peaceful and private. The master bedroom has its own bath. It's a large corner room with great views over the property.

The other three bedrooms on this floor are each uniquely decorated with beautiful colors and fabrics, antique armoires, dressers and writing tables, and comfy upholstered chairs.

The 'green room' has a double bed and views out onto the Lucca valley. The very large, light and airy hall bathroom is shared by the three bedrooms. It has a double sink, toilet, bidet, and large soaking tub.

The Villa is located in a tranqil and picturesque area of Tuscany, just 5 Kms northwest of Lucca. The outdoor areas are very well maintained with an abundance of flowers, fruit trees, shrubs and shaded areas for relaxing. A lovely swimming pool (10x5 mt) is located in the middle of the olive grove, with many shady and natural areas, with stunning views on the rolling slopes all around.

The Villa is in a great position for seeing other parts of Tuscany. The walled city of Lucca is about 10 minutes away by car, Florence about one hour, Pisa airport and the Tuscan shore about a half hour. Lucca has train and bus stations, both with regular service to many points within Tuscany and beyond.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We all loved our stay in your beautiful villa and we are happy to recommend it; a real gem. The house has been beautifully restored and decorated in the Tuscan style. The house is on a ridge looking down over surrounding olive and vine-covered valleys and hills. There are sweeping views from the front terrace and pool area of other hilltop villas and down onto the plains below. The location is so central for exploring wonderful Lucca, Florence, Pisa, Livorno , the Mediterranean coast and mountains.

The house was perfect for the hot weather, able to be closed up during the day and opened up every night when the cool breezes come in. The pool was excellent with sun lounges and umbrellas. We could not have survived without it when it is too hot during the day for extended sightseeing.

Thank you both for your hospitality.

We had a lovely stay here. The house has loads of room and areas to sit and eat, talk, relax. The pool is set up above the house with lovely views and is a good size.

  • 5 of 5

We were two families having 7 great days in Daniella and Robertos lovelly house. Lucca is 15 minutes away by var with a lot of nice and tasteful restaurants and small shops. We recommend to listen to Robertos restaurant recommodations, they were great. Thanks again and hope to be back some time. Brgds Rolf, Anita, Jesper and Julie + Mike,Linda, Kasper and Tilla

A Very Special Place

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casale di Moriano. It is a beautifully restored house - spacious, comfortable, elegantly furnished and well equipped. The grounds are extensive and immaculately maintained, with panoramic views from the terraces. Unfortunately we were too early to make use of the pool. There is a huge supermarket nearby, but also a small shop in Ponte di Moriano (open only in the mornings) which has a few basics, various delicatessen items and wonderful take-away dishes. Within a few kilometres there are many local restaurants with very good family-style cooking– we particularly enjoyed Osteria Pio and Antica Locanda di Sesto. Lucca itself is about 15 minutes away. Dario was very helpful & patient in answering all my questions and easy to communicate with. He and Genni kindly offered to meet us at a pre-arranged location to guide us to the house on arrival (it’s not easy to find, google maps puts the true address in the wrong location, and our car GPS system did not recognise the street at all). The owner Roberto, a charming and gracious host, introduced us to the house and farewelled us a week later. All in all a very happy experience.

We stayed here with friends in September 2017 for one week and everything was perfect! The house is great and has a beautiful view over the hills. We hired a cook for two evenings and she prepared us a delicious meal.

The property is located in a quiet, panoramic and very green area, at just 5 Kms northwest of the walled town of Lucca, immersed in the own olive grove. A few beautiful paths start directly at the house from where it is possible to reach safe and scenic walking itineraries amidst olive trees, vineyards, and all around the hills dotted of few old buses, old churches, medieval hamlets. Through the riverside path it is possible to reach Lucca, by walking or by bicycle, avoiding all the traffic. Two of the best restaurants of the region are within 2 Kms from the house, and one lovely typical Tuscan 'Trattoria' is at 10-15 min walking. The shore, with a number of beach clubs, is reachable in 30 minutes drive. Pisa airport is at 30 min, Florence at 1h, the 5 Terre at 1h and 1/2 easy drive.
