If you are looking for a waterfront vacation with lots of room to roam, this is your place. The 1.2 acre low bank property has a pond, majestic cedar, huge rhododendron plants, and walk on access to the beach. The home offers a great working kitchen, large wood burning fire, a large master bedroom with a king size bed, sky light and ocean view. This 1700 sqft cottage has a great layout but is definitely a rustic home. Hopkins Landing has everything you want for a peaceful getaway, beautiful mile long beach, government wharf to stroll down or jump off, hiking, mountain biking, close to the town of Gibson's, and Persephone brewing is up the hill. This home is steps from the Langdale ferry terminal a quick 35 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay.

Very clean, has everything you could need, very spacious and open.
This house was a very pleasant surprise to us all. It was obviously a well loved family home. Larger than expected and has a great kitchen with all dishes, flatwear, pots and pans, serving dishes etc etc. We couldnt be more pleased with the house. Its just too bad there is such severe drought conditions, the grass would have been lovely. I can only imagine what the giant Rhodos would have looked like in on the early summer, full bloom. The blue hydrangeas and purple Rose of Sharon were quote striking though.
I think the only things we would suggest you change is the plastic sheets on some of the beds. They are noisey to sleep on and if its hot outside, very sweaty at night.
We had my Grand daughter's first birthday there and it was lovely and fun. We used the BBQ to cook a large salmon for dinner. It was great. We would all certainly recommend this place to those looking for a relaxing place to de-stress. Gibsons is a short distance away and offers great resaurants, coffee houses and delicious micro brewery treats. We will definitely be back.
This was a perfect place for our weekend away with friends. The location was beautiful, a short walk from the beach and we rode our bikes up the (steep!) hill to Persephone brewing. We had more than enough space, a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of towels. The place is as advertised, the owners were responsive and friendly. The master bed was very comfortable and our friend who slept in the 'bonus room' downstairs said it felt like hotel bed.
We had a great family vacation at this cottage.
The cottage is as as described. The location was great as we could access the beach for walks and swimming. We were handy to Gibson’s and the ferry. There was lots of room for everyone. The basement was really only used for sleeping and laundry as it is not a finished area.
We enjoyed the deck space and option of the hot tub and large grassy play area. The kitchen was well stocked and the large table accommodated everyone. The beds and bedding were comfortable and towels plentiful !
Thank you for sharing your beautiful location !
Thank you so much for your review! We hope you will stay again!
Perfect getaway, highly recommended!!
This place is absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway. We had a girls trip and it couldn't have worked out better. The beds are all comfortable, and the linens and towels are impeccably clean. There's a ton of space in the cabin and the kitchen is a great size for cooking for larger groups (and super well stocked, which is always a pleasant surprise). The property itself is beyond incredible: lush, well maintained, gorgeous views and access right to the ocean. Also, the location is just perfect, super close to the ferry but still quiet and secluded and just a few minutes from the quaint and cute down of Gibsons. I would definitely recommend this place!
Rachelle, Thank you for taking your time to leave such a thoughtful review! You were fabulous guests and are welcome back anytime!
Pictures look great but the reality was very different...
Mouse droppings, false advertisement, cigarette butts and missing light bulbs. Day 1/3: Upon arrival we were unable to put our clothes in the dressers because they were dirty, so we just decided to use our suitcases. No big deal. Let's go for a dip in the hot tub. The handle on the screen door was half broken and the patio umbrella was also broken. Then we noticed that the hot tub was cold and had dirt and toys in the bottom. Despite a 'Welcome' document inviting us to use the hot tub and the fact that the advertisement for the property explicitly states that it has a hot tub, it wasn't operational and the owner knew it but neglected to tell us. I called the owner, was told to turn on the breaker, which did nothing but activate the exposed 240 volt terminals in the downstairs area, which were accessible to children due to a door with no doorknob or lock in the open area where the repairman was replacing the heater for the broken hot tub. Okay - first world problem. No hot tub. Day 2/3: Stan from Beachcomber hot tubs showed up to install a new heater and a new pump which would take a while to heat up, and left us with 24 hours to use the hot tub before we checked out on day 3. Between day one and day three we found mouse droppings in the silverware drawer, cupboards and frying pans, a used cigarette butt in the dresser drawer and a bbq grill that hadn't been cleaned at all. When we asked for some sort of refund for me having to spend most of my holiday on the phone with VRBO 'Trust and Security' department (who said their hands are tied and that none of this violates trust and security - especially the part about 240 volt terminals and mouse droppings) the owner refused to acknowledge any of it, refused to refund any or all of our stay, and reminded us that at least we got to stay on a 1.2 acre lot near the water for a great rate. You decide.
Hi Kahlil & Lydia Ashanti,
We are so sorry you had a poor experience at our home. I don’t think this was a good fit from the start. I’m happy to hear that our house cleaner and hot tub repair man arrived shortly after you checked in to address your concerns. Unfortunately a previous guest left some food out, and we are actively dealing with the mice.
Great location for relaxing away from city
I stayed here with four adults and three children. We were all very comfortable. The kids loved the big soaker tub. The short walk to the beach couldn't be beat.
The biggest mistake of our trip is that I waited until three weeks before our departure date to try to book the ferry over. By that time everything was full. We arrived at the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal at 4:10PM and didn't get on a ferry until 7:00PM.
Plan ahead and have a great trip!
Thanks for your review Gwen! Great advice to book a reservation with BC Ferries, we will update our profile to notify future guests. You are welcome back anytime!
