Lovely, peaceful stay
We just came home from 2 weeks at the Chic Chalet, from start to finish we had a wonderful experience. Karin and Lisa were super easy to work with, beginning with booking through to a couple of quick questions and problems that were taken care of very fast. The house itself is very cozy and cute, with artwork by Doris, the owner, sprinkled throughout, take your time to enjoy the watercolors and oils in each room. The kitchen is the best-equipped kitchen we've had in over 25 years of rentals, everything we could have possibly needed was there. We loved the fireplace and our daily fires while we watched the Olympics on the dish TV. 10 minutes from Okemo, another 5 into Ludlow for groceries and shopping. Don Gates took great care of the driveway to get us out each day, he even treated the driveway in a way that would allow our little ones to still sled- so fun! At our peak we were 6 adults, 2 little ones and a baby, and we were cozy but not crowded. My only caution is the spiral staircase, which is not child-friendly and 2 bedrooms are at the top. There is a master on the first floor and a large room with a trundle in the basement, we used every room. Thank you Doris and Karin for being such great hosts.
Thank you so much for this review, Mary! It was a pleasure having you and we hope you will come back for many seasons to come!
Clean, cozy, and close to okemo!
My husband and I stayed here with another couple. We skied at Okemo which was about a 10 minute easy ride and did a lot of cooking at the place. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need.
The place was very clean and the owner as well as the property manager (who lived down the street) were readily accessible and super friendly and helpful! That's a PLUS!
One drawback, there is no cell service in the town, so none at the property. You must use wifi, which they have. Although, it was a little unsettling at first to not be able to readily text etc, it actually ended up being quite peaceful. : )
The place is well suited for 2 couples or a small family. One bathroom is next too the master bedroom and two smaller rooms ( more suited for kids) up in the loft. This can make privacy a little awkward. Luckily, the basement is finished and has a comfy trundle double (not sure size) bed next to a gas fireplace. There is also a tiny, but full bathroom. So this worked out great for us. Our friends enjoyed the space in the basement, and we had our space on the first floor.
The beds were comfortable. And again, everything was clean!!
There was plenty of wood for fires.
We would stay there again. : )
Perfect New Year's Eve in Vermont!
We stayed in this lovely house for 2018 New Year's Eve. The house is very clean and well maintained. The on-site property manager Don was helpful and always available in case of any help was required.
The best feature of this property is that it is very close to the Okemo mountain (~10mins drive) but at the same time it sits on a very private lot surrounded with beautiful forest views! The kids had a great time just "swimming" in the snow around the house and riding sleds from a long sloped private driveway.
The house has real wood fireplace which was everyone's favorite place to sit around after a long day on the slopes.
We would certainly love to return to this place again next winter. Thank you Karin & Don for making our time memorable!
Overall, I highly recommend this vacation rental.
Thank you so much for this nice review! We enjoyed having you stay and hope you will return!
Don't bother looking for other places to stay, this place is beautiful. Six of us stayed here and not one of us had anything negative to say about this place. The place is lovely with tons of room. We stayed for three days and planned to ski on Okemo Mountain for two of them (which was only a 15 minute drive), but loved the place so much that we stayed in the second day instead of skiing. It has a beautiful fireplace with enough firewood on the property to keep it lit for months. Although temperatures went as low as -3 degrees, we were cozy and warm in this lovely home. We loved the newly renovated kitchen which had everything we needed to cook our meals. There were books, movies, board games, cards, and puzzles that kept us entertained throughout the whole trip. I would recommend 4wd for the winter season.
Thanks so much for your comments! I am genuinely delighted that you found everything to your liking. We strive to provide the classic New England ski lodge experience in a home that is both cozy and charming but also freshly updated for the discerning traveler. Be well!
Nice Vermont setting, close to Okemo
Seven of us stayed for a long weekend and we were very comfortable. The owner was easy to work with for the reservation and payment. The kitchen has everything you would need for preparing meals. 4WD vehicle is recommended during winter season.
