Downstairs Room of a Well Lived In House
The place is nicely decorated with island themes. There is no mention in the property description that to get to the "Private Entrance", one has to navigate a long, narrow rubber walkway through the yard, along the side of the house, and this strange walkway finally ends at the top of a scary, narrow, steep set of stairs. This was a big deal for me: I am 5'2", 115 pounds, and arrived on a dark, rainy night with 2 heavy suitcases. I was certain my suitcases and I would careen off the slippery stairs, through the rickety deck rail, and over the cliff. My visit to Hawaii was to see my elderly father, who was a good sport and tried to go down once, one slow step at a time. He refused to visit again, which was sad. I did not see Mike and Bonnie, but I heard them: The footsteps from above, the TV, and the conversation were all loud. There is a dog that runs back and forth. I was awakened out of deep sleeps several times. Normally I have friends and family over to my rental when I visit. But because I could hear those above me so well, they would hear us...and I like privacy! so I invited no one, saying, "This place I found is not so hot, you can visit me next time." Someone in the house or neighborhood smokes. If you are sensitive to cigarette (or other) smoke, like I am, you will be miserable. And speaking of fragrance, the room smelled like mothballs.
Leila, very sorry you did not enjoy your stay. We had no idea you were unhappy while you were here.
Your review is certainly an anomaly from the norm and we are truly very sorry. Our goal is to make sure all guests are 100% happy.

Just what we needed
Very nice, clean & comfortable place to stay & the owners went above & beyond making sure our needs were being met. Also the owners were very prompt when communicating with them, both prior to the stay & while we were there. Would definitely stay there again!
Everything was great exept
Great location and awesome view. Nice Champagne, nuts and robs. Jacuzzi tub takes a long time to fill and we had a sewer smell two of our four days.
room with breezes and glorious views
I loved staying here- on top of the ridge was refreshingly cool compared to down the hill and Waikiki area.THe space is very clean and comfortable with nice amenities: bathrobes,
fridge, toaster oven, microwave, and great coffee. The small balcony was delightful-
and sunrises for early risers like me were spectacular.Mike and Bonnie were there to help with minor issues- snow on tv acreen.Quickly etc. WOnderful place!
Incredible VRBO stay ... beautiful apartment and wonderful hosts!
I hardly ever write reviews, but I've wanted to write this one from the moment I arrived. Everything was perfect ... the huge and well-appointed apartment, the idealic location with gorgeous views, and the incredibly accommodating hosts. Pictures are limited in representing the listing; this is the place to stay if you are seeking to avoid Waikiki. Mike and Bonnie: Thank you ... Mahalo!
Thanks for the kind words Brad. Very glad you enjoyed your stay, and please remember us the next time you are visiting Oahu.

Great location with wonderful owners -- excellent room and bath -- and nice extras
Loved our stay. We found the location to be really good with access to some top quality restaurants and a beautiful view over the valley and out to the ocean with the crater park mound on the right -- just beautiful (and we live along the front range of the Colorado Rockies so are very picky about our views!).
The room was large and had beautiful flooring and was in great condition. The bath area was very up to date with two nice sinks, a large walk in shower with a great shower head, and a whirlpool tub (which we did not use). The closet was big, had lots of provided hangers, and plenty of space.
The extras included a bottle of brute in the fridge, kona coffee with the coffee maker, some nuts to munch on, and a full set of towels and bath robes. Also provided were three sets of masks, snorkels, and fins -- I used the large size and it worked great out on the bay snorkeling.
The bed was big and comfortable -- and there were plenty of plugs to charge phones and computers -- with a wifi that was easy to access. The TV setup included numerous channels and some premium channels and more than met our needs.
The hosts were gracious and helpful -- they are nice people and we wish them well -- one was recovering from a health incident but that didn't stop them from ensuring we had towels and accommodations as we needed it -- we were pleased.
I recommend this rental -- it met our expectations (plus!) -- was in a good location (not right on a beach with a full beach view, but a beautiful view none the less) --
Only caution would be if you are mobility challenged the entry to the level we were on involved a flight of steps. No biggie if steps are not a problem, but if you are wheel chair bound or have severe problems with a flight of steps you might want to ask the hosts if they can accommodate you in some other way.
Highly recommend this -- great job to our hosts!!!
