-Our twin villas are in Bokeelia on Pine Island next to Ft Myers, FL. This island has no beaches because it is surrounded by mangrove trees. The fish are always biting!
-The best tarpon fishing in all the world is off the north coast of Bokeelia in Boca Grande Pass. Our plentiful game fish are snook, redfish, trout, grouper, snapper, cobia, mackerel, blacktip shark, sea bass, and sheepshead. Fish along the mangrove shoreline in the flats of Pine Island Sound.
-Our twin villas are on a canal with a free marina and access to the Gulf. Follow local tide charts for deeper hull boats. We are also just a few miles to commercial marinas.
-Pine Island is surrounded by wetlands and estuaries. Bring your spotting scope and a good camera!
-People migrate in the winter to this mecca of roseate spoonbills, pelicans, egrets, herons, mangrove cuckoo, seabirds, and shorebirds.
-Local birding hot spots include Ding Darling Nature Preserve on Sanibel Island, Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve in Ft. Myers, and Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples. Contact our Caloosa Bird Club to plan your trip. The club meets weekly November through March.
-Want an experience that you'll always remember? Kayak around Pine Island's barrier islands. You'll feel like you've paddled back to prehistoric times as you explore the close-by, tiny, uninhabited keys. You'll find manatees, a huge variety of birds, turtles, and fish galore! Paddle into schools of mullet when they're jumping to literally catch dinner! Find a sandy clearing and picnic on your own beach as you watch boats, dolphins and pelicans. Just walk out our front door to launch your adventure!
-Pine Island is encircled by the world-class beaches of Ft Myers, Sanibel Island, and Captiva. You'll want to take the quick drive to spend a day at each of these very different beaches. We have beach chairs, towels and bags for your use.
-Want a total getaway? Take a water taxi from Pine Island to Cabbage Key for brunch and then get dropped off at Cayo Costa. You can only get there by boat. The only thing on this soft, white-sand island is the state park office where you can rent kayaks and get snacks. Claim a secluded spot and swim or read with nothing in sight but beautiful Gulf waters.
-Pine Island is a little-known getaway spot, and we're lucky that it's stayed that way for this long. It's a place to stop and get away from it all -including other tourists.
-You will enter Pine Island through Matlacha. It is a wonderful artisan area with galleries, delightful shops, and local eats. Sit by the water and enjoy homemade ice cream, tropical fruit smoothies, or the catch of the day. Buy shrimp and stone crab from trucks. Matlacha also has a community park with a very nice fishing pier. The drawbridge in Matlacha has a fishing lane. Everything that swims in the Gulf can be caught there.
-Pine Island is by Ft. Myers, a premier vacation destination for a reason. The area offers plenty for all ages.
This is our 2nd vacation home property on Pine Island. We would love for our 2 villas to become your gathering place, your relaxing getaway to make lifetime memories with family and friends.
