About Brett & Jan
The "owner photo" is of some of our kids on a old railroad bridge (railroad does not use bridge currently). It is easy to get to this bridge which is located only a few miles from Moose Meadows Retreat. This bridge is part of a ATV/bike trail and we have spent years riding over it. This bridge is also significant because it overlooks the spot you launch your canoes/kayaks or paddle boards to float the river down to the Mack's Inn area. Lastly we love this bridge because we love to walk the nature trail which starts down by Big Springs and follows the river and ends close to this same railroad bridge. Island Park has been a big part of the culture of our family for generations. Our children have been raised coming to Island Park and we have countless memories here. We now are grandparents and are thrilled to be bringing our posterity to Island Park to make more memories.
Brett & Jan purchased this Cabin in 2017
Why Brett & Jan chose Island Park
We always have said we wanted a cabin in Island Park with a view. The view from Moose Meadows does NOT disappoint. The view of the meadow from our cabin showcases the year round beauty of the region. We love to just sit on the back porch or sit inside and look out the large window and enjoy the peace and beauty of the Henrys Lake Flats. . We love Island Park Village because of it's proximity to HWY 20 and convenience to a store (Robin's Roost). We love that we can take off on a ATV/motorcycle trip right from our driveway. From our cabin we are a quick drive to the boat put-in to float the Henrys Fork. We are minutes from Big Springs and go there constantly in the summer months to admire the beauty and go on the "nature path" there. Last fall we walked the nature path near Big Springs and saw 4 moose from the path between Big Springs and the boat put-in. (of course we admired them from afar). .
What makes this Cabin unique
Moose Meadows Retreat is a "big little cabin." When our friends and family come and visit us at Moose Meadows they always say the same thing... "this place is much bigger than it looks from the outside." Our guests often say "this place is much more amazing than the pictures." It is not hard to find countless rentals which are the same size or even smaller which sleep many more guests. At Moose Meadows we have deliberately chosen to not cram beds in our cabin to market to a larger, broader population. We LOVE the open space in our cabin and have found our guests feel the same way. Our guests often comment how appreciative they are that we have open space in the cabin and did not "overload" each room with beds.

Great place to stay
Nice to come home to after a long day at Yellowstone. Just the right distance off the main road.. Great sunrise and sunset views over the mountains.
Enjoyed the stay, found everything as offered.
House was immaculate. View was just as described. Very relaxing place to stay. Beds were comfy.
Fantastic View... Great place to stay while visiting Yellowstone
Our family had a great stay in the house. It is roughly 20 minutes from the West Yellowstone entrance. I would stay again.
The house was wonderful and worked very well for our two families of 5. The absolute best part was waking up to the spectacular view! It was the perfect place to return to after a busy day in Yellowstone. Jan was very good at communicating with us. Overall a great experience!
3 families in Yosemite
The home was well furnished, spacious, clean and beautiful. Linens were sufficient and toilet part of good quality. Kids had lot of board games to be entertained. In laws had spent couple of days at home and were able to watch TV and relax. Jan was reachable for any questions and kept us updated if anything was not working or out of place. Only challenge was finding the garbage bin that was located elsewhere in the neighborhood for garbage disposal. But Jan let us put the garbage out on the deck and said that they would take care of it. That was nice of her.
View from the backyard is so stunning. Sunrises were beautiful. We could see some wildlife too in the early morning hours. Close to gas station and for grocery with decent geocery availability. As
Mentioned 30 mom drive to Yellowstone west entrance and didn’t had too much wait st the entrance too.
Couple of suggestions:
Have garbage disposal cans at the property itself.
Washing and drying the towels should be part of the cleaning agency. This might be challenging if people have to shower in the morning and leave early since the wash and dry might take time for bigger group.
Our cabin, Moose Meadows Retreat has amazing world class recreation right out the front door. You can easily access the famous Island Park Trail System from the cabin. In the winter there are countless snowmobiling trails, and during summer months hours of ATV trails are accessed within minutes of the cabin. We love to snowshoe in the winter and can snowshoe on the Henry's Lake Flats directly from our cabin. (we leave 2 sets of size large snowshoes for guest use). In the winter a quick 15 minute drive south will have you cross-country skiing at beautiful Harriman State Park. There are countless opportunities to ice fish close by. Our favorite is to snowmobile in to Cliff or Wade Lake to try our skill (or luck) at ice fishing. (must trailer sled to get to trailhead). However, our latest outdoor passion is mountain biking. Our favorite time to mountain bike is in the FALL as we can get an up-close look at the changing foliage. A quick drive 20 minutes north OR 15 minutes south will connect you 15-20 amazing mountain biking trails (we use Trailforks app). We also LOVE trailing to West Yellowstone which is a quick 20 minute drive with many attractions including IMAX theatre, ropes course, souvenir shopping, restaurants, west entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
