About Susan Clark
Hi! Over 20 years ago, my parents began to plan and build their dream home. This became the Irish Eagle. They loved to host parties and entertain guests. When health issues brought them closer to town, we didn't want to lose their legacy. Instead, we decided to keep it in the family and share it with others as a vacation rental. My name is Susan and this is the Irish Eagle, named for our Irish heritage and the Eagles you can spot over the lake. We have two young children and they enjoy the cabin just as much as we do. We are confident that your family will feel the same. My husband, Keith, works in technology while I work as the front desk secretary of an area middle school. We have two girls, Presley and Emmy, ages 11 and 8. My husband is from Texas and while I was born in West Virginia, I grew up here in Tennessee just south of Nashville. When we can, we enjoy visiting the Irish Eagle as a family for our own vacations. We also enjoy board games, going to the movies, escape games, roller skating, video games, painting, and other craft projects. When we do get to the cabin (as we call it), we like to explore and drive to the nearby areas to see what kind of local shopping, dining, attractions we can find. If you find something your family especially enjoys while staying with us, please share it with me so we can visit there on our next run! We realized after we purchased the home that all our previous trips had mostly been just to go on the water and we hadn't explored the area so we still have a LOT to learn! We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do!

Why Susan Clark chose Byrdstown
We love the small town feel of Byrdstown. The marina is less than a mile away and you can rent any type of boat you'd like. I've worked hard to cultivate the type of atmosphere that I would like on vacation... mostly because we still use this home for vacation! My ideal environment - Surrounded by nature but with all the luxuries of home. I think we have provided that for you at The Eagle. When I step in the home, I remember summers here with my family when we owned our own pontoon. Waking in the morning to a fresh cooked breakfast, the house smelled of sunscreen and pancakes. I can still see my dad standing at the stove when I walked up from sleeping downstairs. My mom would be standing at the table behind the couch, packing towels and cd's for the boat while we loaded the cooler with drinks and snacks for the day. A short ride down the winding road to the marina and we were off. Fishermen lined the rocks to the ramp where our boat lived... a teal blue pontoon. We'd roll up her covers, wipe down the seats, put on our life jackets and off we'd go. Nothing beats the feeling when you pass the "No Wake Zone" buoys and can "give er some gas!" We would return home just before dusk and walk in to the clean smell of aloe and fresh laundry. Everyone took showers and played cards on the dining room table that is still in use today in the home. We would listen to music and tell stories and jokes while my dad prepared dinner for everyone. On lake days, it was usually one of our family favorites like BBQ chicken and potato salad. We would eat... laugh... and hit the cool, crisp, white sheets early. We bought the home to preserve this for my family. And to share it with YOUR family and for whomever you wish to bring. These sweet summer memories stay with us a lifetime. Don't mistake this home for a one trick pony. We had Christmas celebrations here. Thanksgiving turkeys prepared in this kitchen and shared with friends. The Irish Eagle is to be shared year round!
What makes this House unique
Our home is unique in that there is literally something for every member of your group! If you come as a family, you may enjoy the family friendly Netflix, extensive selection of board games, the pool table, the Play Station 3, bringing movie rentals to watch on the DVD player, .the "bubble tub" (Jacuzzi) and the hot tub outside (ask us how to set on a lower temp). They love to blow bubbles on the outside porch. We have the BEST driveway for sidewalk chalk! Those with babies will find the swings very convenient for rockers, even big kids like to rock in them. Boat rental options at the area marinas are endless, and the house even has enough parking for you to bring your own if you choose! If you come on an adult only vacation, you have access to the marina and all the boating options, the hot tub, pool table, Netflix, etc.. in addition, there are wood burning fireplaces on both floors, a grill that operates on both charcoal and propane (provided), a fire pit... too much to list. In virtually every room, there is a place for relaxation. You will have complete privacy in this wooded paradise.

Great Fall Getaway
This property has fantastic views of the water and the trees across the way. It is conveniently located near the marina for all your water access needs. The home has many entertaining options from board games, cards, billiards, and gaming system for indoors to a fire pit , hot tub, and dual grill outside. The view of the stars from the hot tub at night are amazing!!
We really enjoyed our weekend stay and made many memories.
Beautiful and relaxing!
We had a delightful trip to Dale Hollow Lake. The Irish Eagle lake house was everything described on the website. The view was
We were not interested in the hot tub with the weather at over 95 degrees , but the jacuzzi was another way to relax tired muscles after a day on the lake.
Sheri, thanks so much for your visit! I hope you'll visit us again in cooler weather to make use of the hot tub and see the stars! We appreciate you!
A great place to unwind!
My husband and I wanted to go to a place that was peaceful, quiet, in a beautiful natural setting that had access to water for fishing/kayaking and places nearby to hike. This property was perfect for us! It sits in the middle of the woods and has a great view of Dale Hollow lake from all rooms on the back and from the spacious deck and hot tub. Morning coffee and evening relaxation on the deck watching eagles was so calming. The house was well equipped and clean. Loved being able to do laundry and grind our own coffee. The marinas nearby made it easy to launch a boat, rent a pontoon, or launch our kayaks and the lake is huge, beautiful, and clean. Plenty of places to go ashore for a picnic or to fish. If you go, look at the purple book of information to find places for great hikes. We drove to South Big Fork area 3 times (1-1 1/2 hour drive) to hike some beautiful trails... well worth the drive in our opinion. The trail to the large cave at Cordell Hull Birthplace is closer to the property and also very nice. Local restaurants are affordable, mostly homestyle Southern cooking, with friendly service. We had great steaks at the River Grill.
Overall our stay at the Irish Eagle was just what we needed! We definitely want to return!
You were such thoughtful guests who took great care of our home! We would be very happy to have you again! Thank you so much for the kind words and thorough feedback!
We enjoyed every single moment of our trip! The house was lovely and the setting, absolutely incredible! We took our two adult daughters and their boyfriends, the men had a great time in the basement in their own "apartment". The view of the lake from our porch was a highlight, and worth every penny of the price! Have already recommended this home to friends, and have sent a link to several who asked. Thank you!
There is a marina less than a mile away with pontoon and house boats available for rent. Grocery store, liquor store and gas station are a short drive away. Several restaurants are within reach, some offering live music on Saturday. The real benefit of the Irish Eagle is the view and the ability to enjoy nature! You can hike down to the lake from the house and walk the shore at the point! More challenging hikes are available at the local caves. Fishing is abundant at Dale Hollow Lake as well! There is something for everyone!
