Too far from downtown Jersey City and downtown NYC.
The property was just fine, clean, comfortable and the owner was very gracious and helpful. I was told we would be 20 minutes from Downtown Lower Manhattan. Not so. Had to take Uber(15 min) to Pass Another 15-20 min) to Downtown. Otherwise very nice. Please send my refund as we did no damage.
Sons Birthday Trip
The rental process was smooth along with check in. House was as described and was a very nice and affordable stay. Street parking was only a problem on the 4th of July (to be expected). Bring your own towels or be prepared to launder supplies towels. There were only 4 towels for 3 adults for seven days. We packed to not have to do our own laundry and didn’t plan to do laundry, The only other issue was that the PATH station within walking distance was closed costing us approximately $30 additional per day to UBER. Not sure how long it’s closed - just make sure it’s open if you are planning on walking to rail. Other than that - very good experience and owner was great to work with!
This place was close to light rail which took us to the path to get to Manhattan. Neighborhood while older was quiet and neighbors were friendly. There was a little market across the street. The hostess Kathleen was very nice. Communication was good. Only thing to be aware of is a fairly steep flight of stairs to enter our living area. Would definitely stay here again
thanks for staying
Kathleen is awesome! There's no complaints about anything
Kathleen was an awesome person with a great place the one thing I have to complain about is that I didn't have more time. It was super peaceful as well as comfortable. Kitchen well stocked I did cook and bathroom was clean my gf and I stayed and I popped the question this weekend and she said yes so my overall experience there was great would definitely recommend this place!
Gateway to Gotham
The reviewer and family members stayed at this property in late July 2018. Booking was simple and posed no problems, and checkin was timely accomplished. The property is located in an urban neighborhood in close proximity to a delicatessen that functions as a mini-grocery (most other dining options are a bit of a hike or require a car trip) and is also near a light-rail stop that provides frequent service practically all day and night to rail and ferry connections to Manhattan, rendering it an easy task to leave around 5:15 p.m. to make a 7 p.m. Broadway curtain.
The portion of the property offered for rental is a second-floor 2BR/1BA apartment with a kitchen and extra room that can also sleep two or three in a pinch. There is a common entry foyer to which guests are provided keys for access after hours (which many will likely need if they make a night of it in Manhattan). Climate control for a summer week was excellent, with good air conditioning service and ceiling fans.
It is all but impossible to say enough about how helpful Ms. Stephen is to guests. She was quick to point out the necessity of swapping sides of the street for one's automobile to accommodate Jersey City street-cleaning schedules, and even enlisted the help of neighbors to watch for and hold potential parking spots. Further, she had a good supply of tourist-information reading materials available to guests in the unit.
This was the first VRBO experience for the reviewer and his wife and teen daughter, and three nights was probably the perfect length of stay. Ms. Stephen has obviously taken a great deal of care to create a well-appointed apartment unit for guests interested in staying in Metro NYC, and her efforts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for staying at my home you and your family are welcome anytime
