This central location in the Garden District has everything: historical sites, the beach, St. Elena park, wonderful little 'bacari' (cafes)and local markets. It is minutes from the site of the Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition, a world class contemporary fair held every odd year from May-Nov. The St. Elena gardens, are three or four minutes away. Famous St. Mark's Square is a 10-15 minute walk enjoying the Lagoon, St. George's Island and beautiful palaces along the way. One of the benefits of this location is that it is an authentic Venetian neighborhood, not full of tourists, but is still very near all of the important cultural destinations. The apartment is also only 2 vaporetti stops from Lido island, which is Venice's beach.
The charming first-floor walkup has been completely renovated and is composed of a living/dining room combination, kitchen, two bedrooms (one with a queen bed and one with twin beds) and two baths.
This was our first trip to Venice and we were very happy with our apartment selection. The apartment is so close to everything, San Marco, water buses, and restaurants. There is supermarket located about 50 yards away which we visited often to pick up bottles of water and other food items to munch on at the apartment. The beds are queen size and very comfortable. The apartment is located right next to a small charming park. Walk thru it and you are at a water bus stop in about 5 minutes or less. The only time we needed to take a water bus (don't take a water TAXI..too expensive) was from the airport, to the train station, and to Murano. We enjoyed the water bus because the trip is so relaxing and scenic. Once in Venice no need to take a water bus or taxi, just walk around and enjoy getting lost once in a while. We never felt unsafe, even at night. Our host Francesca answered all our questions prior to our departure from the US and was always available to assist us with other questions we had, from our arrival in Venice until our departure. We would stay there again. Thanks for everything Francesa
We originally tried to book this property but was told that it was no longer available but they had a comparable property and would send pictures. We never received pictures after asking for them 2x but presumed (big mistake !) that it would be AS nice as the one listed. When we got to the property there was only 1 bedroom instead of 2. They had 2 cots in the dining room for the other bedroom. It was also not furnished nearly as nice as the one listed in VRBO. We left after one night and found a lovely hotel in the City. This is the first time we have been burned by VRBO and we will be more careful in the future. Note to self, always see pictures!
This is a very nice apartment, which is located just a short walk (around 15 minutes) from Piazza San Marco along the waterfront.
I would say it is better than the photos perhaps give the impression. The vast majority of the apartment is very modern and it has all that you need for a comfortable stay. Two bedrooms, one main bathroom and a small ensuite in the second bedroom. The property was spotlessly clean and in good condition.
The location on Via Garibaldi is great - it is a slightly less touristy area than a lot of the rest of Venice, so it is easy to escape the crowds. There is a supermarket, bars and restaurants within two minutes of the front door. A waterbus stop is just 5 - 10 minutes away through the park which is very convenient - alternatively, if you want to visit some of the other islands to the north, you can walk to another waterbus stop within 15 minutes. It's therefore very easy to explore the city from this location.
It would be hard to find any negative points, other than the fact that the kitchen is perhaps a little small but there's just about enough space to prepare food.
The property manager was very helpful and easy to deal with.
Overall, very impressed with this apartment and would recommend it to anyone visiting Venice.
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed here for 4 nights in August 2014. We loved this apartment: it was exactly as advertised. We liked that it was sufficiently far from the centre to have a more local feel, but only 15 minutes walk from San Marco. The apartment is furnished comfortably like a home and had everything we needed. Restaurants, bakeries and stores were close by. Francesca was prompt and helpful. We would certainly stay here again.
I have been going to Italy for the past 18 years and found this unit the best I ever rented!! The location (living with local people), the apartment and all the things in it. There was even food in the drawer so for the first night there dead tired I didn't need to eat out. Thank you, everything was as stated. Would rent it again.
This was the perfect location - a vibrant, active street during the day but not noisy at night - so close to everything and in a such a beautiful area - the apartment was perfect for the four of us and was the perfect ending for our stay in Italy.
The apartment is very near the Giardini vaporetto stop.
