The bungalow has undergone a 3 year renovation project. The exterior of the house has been restored to it's original appearance using the best in today's materials. The walls are 6" thick making the house very quiet. Inside, new hardwood on the main floor and thick carpet upstairs helps keep noise to a minimum. The property has ample parking and access to a quite, safe avenue.

Located at the end of Barton Avenue, the house is just on the edge of the Riverview neighborhood which features some of the oldest and most stately homes in the city. Very wide and quiet streets provide safe and beautiful landscapes for walks and biking. If you turn the opposite direction on Barton, you're a couple minutes drive to Chattanooga's Art District, River Front, Tennessee Aquarium, and downtown attractions. There's not a better place to enjoy a wonderful visit to Chattanooga.

The property is located on the IronMan marathon course just across the river from the finishing line. The front yards provides a great viewing area for family and friends to cheer racers on as they make their last uphill challenge before approaching the finish line at the River Front.

About John

My wife and I have recently retired from a great business and team of colleagues that used to gather at our Barton house for work. I've purchased the property in 2013 and have been restoring the house to its original character and upgrading its essentials ever since.

We moved to Chattanooga in 1984; moved away for 8 years; and moved back to our favorite city in 2000. We have lived in many places and traveled extensively but enjoy nowhere as much as Chattanooga. It's nice to always come home to your favorite place on earth.

When I'm not working on our home or bungalow, I enjoy hunting quail and other upland game with my great hunting partner--a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. My wife and I are involved in our church and she is the greatest host on earth and the "Queen of Southern Hospitality".

We have two children and one cherished grandson who we love to be with whenever possible.

Looking ahead, we look forward to some extended road trips out West to visit the great National Parks. We also enjoy the southern beaches along the Atlantic and enjoying nice cruises. We look forward to sharing our bungalow and city with all who choose to visit with us. We will do our best to offer the most enjoyable stay possible.

Why John chose North Chattanooga

The property was purchased mainly for it's prime location and charm. The options of a beautiful stroll down along Riverview Drive or entertaining children at the corner park, or a quick drive to the Museum District or the Riverfront made the purchase of this property irresistible. You know the saying: "Location, Location, Location"

But location isn't everything if you're not comfortable where your living. This bungalow offers so much open space and quiet insulation from city life. It's hard to believe the property is over 100 years old.

What makes this bungalow unique

Besides the location and the nice, cozy spacious interior, one of the unique features of the property is the large level parking area that can easily accommodate 4 vehicles. The driveway leads to a safe entry and exit of the property at the end of Barton Ave where the speed limit is 25mph. A large secured deck which will be equipped with a 6 person dining table and lounge chairs will be available for use this Spring.

This house was amazing!

  • 5 of 5

The house was spotless and so comfortable. It was super convenient to Coolidge Park. John and his wife were the perfect hosts. They made check in and check out very easy and trouble free. We shared the house with another couple and all 4 of us could not have asked for more. We will definitely be back!
