Guestbook comments from the manager

We have stayed at the McCoy cabin many times during the years, and no matter what the season, it is a very enjoyable get away. The cabin is very, very user friendly. The McCoy’s have done everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. There is a notebook with instructions for side trips, how everything in the cabin works, suggested restaurants, etc. The cabin is very well maintained, always very clean, and stocked with the basic necessities. The location is ideal – it is a pleasant 2 mile walk to Tahoe City along a scenic trail, it is three blocks from the homeowner’s beach, and close to the Homewood Ski Area as well as an excellent café to get breakfast and Sunnyside Lodge and Restaurant which has a wonderful outdoor deck overlooking the lake in addition to delicious food. What more can I say – the cabin is a delight and I recommend it without reservation. Marie from Lafayette, California

Refused To Honor Advertised VRBO Rental Rate

  • 1 of 5

I signed up to rent this property from Jul 15 through Aug 31, 2017 for the rental rate published on the property's VRBO website. My reservation was accepted by VRBO, and my credit card was immediately charged the VRBO service fee. A few days later I received an email from Wells & Bennett, the property manager, saying they were cancelling my reservation because they felt the advertised rental rate was not high enough. When I called Wells & Bennett for further clarification, I was told they felt they could get a higher rental rate for this property during the peak summer season, so they would not honor the published VRBO rental rate we had agreed to. I was told if I did not agree to the higher rental rate, my reservation would be cancelled. I told Wells & Bennett I felt we had an agreement and that agreement should be honored, but Wells & Bennett refused to honor our agreement. My reservation was cancelled by Wells & Bennett. Even though my reservation had been cancelled against my wishes, I was still charged a $166.06 VRBO service fee. When I called Wells & Bennett about this, they said they had no control over this fee since it was automatically charged when my reservation had been accepted. They agreed that since it was Wells & Bennett who cancelled our agreement, not me, I should not be charged the VRBO service fee. However, Wells & Bennett said they had no control over the VRBO service fee process, and I would have to take up this problem directly with VRBO. After several weeks VRBO finally reimbursed the $166.06 service fee.

Perfect summer family retreat

  • 4 of 5

Really enjoyed the McCoy house for our short four-night stay near Tahoe City. Location was amazing. Easy walk to the Firesign Cafe for breakfast (get there early!) and the private beach pass was a pleasant surprise. The bike path is blocks away. Our son loved jumping off the pier in to the lake. The house had everything we needed (except the dryer was broken -- check before you attempt to wash clothes). Great outdoor deck for happy hours and tea in the sun or shade amongst the pines. Favorite family activity? -- The pool table and ping pong! Thanks McCoys-- we''ll be back.

Relaxing and Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at the McCoy cabin many times over the past 30 years - in different seasons. We stayed there recently in late August. The cabin is beautiful and in a great location. It is quiet and private yet close to skiing, the beach and shopping in Tahoe City. In the summer you can hike, swim at the private beach or relax in the living room and look at the trees. There is a ping pong table in the family room which is a big hit with kids of all ages.

The living room is very comfortable with pretty views of the forest. It opens to a deck which is great for relaxing and eating outside. The bedrooms are comfortable and the bathrooms, especially the master, are very nice. The house was spotless with comfortable beds and nice bedding and towels. I can't wait to go back!

McCoy Home

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the McCoy rental over the 4th and it was amazing.

There was a ton of space and had a great game room and deck to hangout at. We also had access to the private beach that was beautiful and well equipped with tables and barbaques.

It was on a court so it felt secluded but still close to the action of the weekend. The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful even though many of the houses had people staying at them.

We have stayed at the Mc Coy's cabin several times. It is a large, well

situated, fully equipped rental that is reasonably priced. It is ideal

for a big family reunion or a gathering of old friends with large

porches, recreation room, pool table, BBQ, and a 2 -3 block walk to a

private beach. It also has walk-able access to many hiking trails in

the area. Parking is plentiful and many of the surrounding cabins are

owner-occupied, friendly and helpful. Kids can play in the large,

forested yard while parents can easily keep an eye on them and know they

are safe. The cabin is far enough from the main road that there is no

traffic noise or speeding cars. If you want to spend some time in a

good Tahoe location with friends or family in a "woodsy", casual

environment, you won't be disappointed. If you plan on spending most of

your time indoors in a decorator-inspired interior with all modern

appliances and new-appearing furnishings, this is probably not the place

for you.

Mc Coy Cabin

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was great the neighbors were quiet and friendly, pleanty of parking, we have been renting cabins in Tahoe Park for over 30 years and this was very nice I left a small list of some things that the cabin could use and the gentleman who checked us out was very friendly and said he would look into my list.We will be back next year and I will definatly rent this cabin again if it is avaliable I will however bring my own sharp knifes and toaster just to be sure :) The private beach was clean and beautiful as always ,

my grandkids can jump off the same pier that my children jumped off 30 years ago!!
