This cottage is minutes away from activities and attractions at Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and Trenton Airport, yet provides opportunity for private relaxation.
Enjoy a cozy cottage located among Maine's pine trees on the coast of Maine offering 1,000+ feet of water frontage. This is a housekeeping cottage offering two bedrooms, with queen size beds. There is one full bath. Well behaved pets are welcome, there is a $100 fee.
Imagine driving down a 1,600 foot water-lined, private drive from Seal Point Road in Lamoine. Your mind goes to the quiet, relaxing days before you. Picture yourself following the trail established around the 'point' or perhaps walking along the shore. Watching the seals lounge on sun-warmed ledges at low tide may be fascinating, also deer and wild turkeys may be seen. Bald eagles frequent the area. Observing the lobster fishermen 'pulling their traps' by visiting each bobbing, colorful buoy may catch your attention. Painting views of Schoodic Mountain pleases artistic visitors.

Rustic Cottage is quiet, private, away from people and has a water view
I loved that this cabin was far away from people. It's in the woods and very quiet. I could smell the pine needles as I stepped out of my car to make my way to the cabin. The two separate bedrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, added to the quiet and privacy of the cabin. I loved the quiet and tranquil atmosphere. If you want to get away from people and crowds, this is the place to be. The internet service is very poor, but the quiet, away from people atmosphere made up for poor internet service.
Our host recommended a local lobsterman to purchase lobster from. We took her advice and it was great!! We loved meeting him, picking out our lobster, learning more about lobster (soft vs. hard shelled lobster) and even more important, the price was reasonable. Do not leave this cabin without visiting the local lobsterman down the road. In fact, you should do this more than once cause now I'm sorry I didn't! He will cook it for you for .80 per lobster.
We had a few problems with the toilet the first few days. I was a bit freaked out over it. Our host was quick to respond, however. We had rain, so we had to wait for the weather to improve before local experts came to see if there was a clog in a line outside or if it was something else. We learned that there was not a clog, but an issue with the vent. I think as soon as she gets that fixed, any issues with the toilet will be resolved. We only had issues the first few days where the toilet would bubble like it had air in it. A couple of times, we couldn't flush it. But after two nights, it was fine.
The kitchen is minimally stocked. The host provides a lots of plates and bowls, but I thought it could be stocked better for guests like us who are flying in from out of state who do not eat out much. Foil, oil, spices, Ziploc bags, more oven cookware, and more importantly, more lobster utensils would have been nice. We had minimum lobster utensils. Someone must have stole the lobster tools because our host said there were several sets of lobster tools, some of which were metal which would have cracked the claws better than what we had. All we had was one plastic tool to crack the claw with and one set of tools to get the meat out. The plastic tool is not good quality at all! You need something harder to crack the lobster claws. Before you buy the lobster, make sure you have the tools to crack the shell of the claws.
Private, Peaceful, Comfortable
The cabin was exactly want we expected. It reminded us of our family cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, with a few extras. The washer/dryer came in very handy!
We enjoyed having morning coffee and an evening beverage down by the shore, taking in the smells of the ocean & forest, looking out over the cove with the lobster bouys and boats. Peaceful.
The downstairs bed was super comfy after long days of golfing (Kebo Valley:) and hiking on MDI. Bar Harbor was an easy 30 min drive from Lamoine.
There are racks to hang clothes and hangers in both bedrooms, there is an iron with a full-size board, 2 fans, a hairdryer, coffee pot, and a nicely stocked kitchen including wine and champagne glasses. :) The lobster pot is under the grill cover outside. (we found it too late)
We didn't use the TV or boom box so I can't comment on how those worked but the wifi worked fine. The cribbage board was nice to have since we forgot to bring ours.
My only negative would be that the bathroom was in need of some better cleaning around the outside of the shower. It had a (very slight) musty smell.
I have noticed from reading the other reviews that the owner takes care of everything mentioned so it shouldn't be a problem.
Over all everything was Great and we would Most Definitely stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend it!!
Quiet, but some problems
The cabin is clean, quiet, and a short distance from the ocean. We had a problem with the plumbing. When we drained the kitchen sink, the toilet would gurgle loudly, and eventually, the toilet overflowed. We called the owner, and went out for the day. When we got back, the mess was cleaned, but the problem with draining sinks remained, we suspect that the septic tank was full. Also, the location of the TV is odd.
This cottage is wonderful. It's the best of all worlds wrapped neatly in a little package. The cottage is charming and quaint. There were no surprises when we arrived. It was pictured on the site exactly as it looks. We spent most of each day down by the water on the rocks. You can sit on the rocks and the tide will come in and out and you never have to move. I enjoyed when it was right by my feet and I was still just relaxing. I can't even begin to tell you how relaxing it was.
True to everyone else's reviews we saw the lobster men, the seals, the deer, and the red squirrels. I saw a porcupine for the first time in my life. On our last day there, I was standing on a rock and out of a big pine tree, a Bald Eagle swooped down and then continued to fly away. It was so beautiful. I could almost have touched it because it was that close to me. Neila is a wonderful property owner and I would stay here again and again and again.
I honestly have nothing negative to say about my trip. It was everything we expected and SO MUCH MORE. It truly was the most wonderful vacation I have ever had and I can't wait until next year.
Thank you, Neila for a wonderful vacation!
Harassed by owner's son
My family and I were having a nice vacation until the owner's son showed up at the cottage. Apparently his mother lives at the entrance of the property and they didn't like how I was driving and instead of asking me to be more mindful he showed up at the cottage and used offensive language. Then when he was leaving he picked up a rifle off his driver's seat and held it up so I could see it. Between his demeanor and the weapon it felt like he was trying to intimidate me. The whole situation felt hostile and we got up and left early the next morning. I certainly would not go back as these people seem paranoid and they are armed. An armed response to a perceived slight is incredibly hostile. Maine is a lovely place and I'd like to go again but I'll try to find a safer place to stay with my family next time.
The cottage was everything we wanted. It was located right by the ocean and very quiet and private. We loved going fishing and taking our kayak out. We all had a fantastic time, even our poppy. We will definitely go back!
