Why Ryan Pitre chose Lake Catherine
This property provides a one of kind combination, bringing to you a private waterfront nook with a gradually descending sandy bottomed area that can be played in like being at the beach, a 200' fishing pier, an on-site private boat launch with boat lift, and great hang-out spots either inside or under the camp! Other properties nearby might have one or the other, none have them it all. And all with provided equipment to enjoy it all: crab traps, bbq pits, fishing poles, boiling pots & propane, kayaks, paddleboards, aluminum boat, Blu-Ray Players, Wi-Fi, Flat-Screen TVs with cable, and so much more.

Fabulous! Can't wait to go back.
Tough to beat this place. Immaculate, well appointed, neat, organized and I mean everything you need to enjoy your stay. We really enjoyed fishing and crabbing off the pier, BBQing under the camp, kayaks, and just sitting at end of the pier. Boat lift was a plus, too, but using the launch might be iffy. We were lucky there was an east wind and high tide during our stay. But there are other launches nearby. Everyone had a most memorable experience.
Thanks so much and I'm glad that your group enjoyed it. On the launch issue, I do have it lined up to be re-dredged this fall once the water levels go down to remove the silt left behind and ensure its full-time proper depth going forward!
Awesome property. Everything you need is provided on site.
We had a fantastic time staying here. Boiling gear, crab pots, ice machine, kayaks, and too many other amenities to mention. House was clean and comfortable, and the pictures were accurate. Highly recommend staying here. We brought our boat and it was super convenient with the lift and extended pier. Great location, Marina less than 10 minutes away to gas up the boat. Ryan made it super easy with thorough communication beforehand. Thanks Ryan!

Oh my God the owner was excellent it was my birthday weekend with me and my three boys and my husband and friends he let us check in two hours early and made big difference everything you need is down there if you looking to get away this is the place the view we caught three dozen crabs 13 red fish inside outside was excellent no problems what so ever Ryan thank you we definitely want to come back and very soon beautiful view wouldn’t stay anywhere else
Great fishing camp
Our family had a wonderful week, the location of the home was perfect. We spent a few days in New Orleans and a few days enjoying the beaches in Mississippi, all were less than an hour from us, and the home was located right on the lake with a great pier. The kids caught so many crabs and fish on Lake Catherine. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The only thing that needs to be addressed is the drinking water, we used bottled water for cooking and drinking.
I'm glad to hear things went well for your group. In regards to the water, as had been discussed, all of the camps on the island utilize well water, and as such it can sometimes have a slight coloration and smell to it. While all is tested to be safe and sanitary straight from the well as is, I also have a filtration and treatment system in place to help make it all the better. I will however continue to provide a case of bottled water as a supplement, even though it is indeed ok to use as is. Thanks again and I hope to have you all back sometime! -Ryan-
Respite, Refulgent, and Reasonable
Recently my family and I stayed at the Lake Catherine Fishing Camp House in eastern New Orleans. We were completely blown away by the property and the attentiveness of the owner Ryan. The property is breathtakingly beautiful and gave the needed respite from a full day of touring New Orleans! Since the house is only about a half hour drive from the heart of the city, getting to and fro was a cinch. Since it was really hot during the time we were in NOLA, having a lake side dwelling to retreat to was so very welcome. The proximity to other activities, tours, and points east made it so easy and convenient for us to get to Honey Swamp Tour and restaurants in nearby Slidell. Mississippi is only about 1.5 hours away to the east which we contemplated traveling to on the last day of our stay but decided to spend a relaxing day at the property enjoying the water, playing games, and doing a little fishing.
My daughter's family (of four) and I were totally impressed by how clean and comfortable the house was as well as all of the amenities. Ryan has everything you can think of at the house and generously allows the use of kayaks, paddle boards, and fishing equipment. When we arrived my grandkids eyes just about popped out of their heads with the views and the rooms they were staying in (they loved the bunk beds!). The adults were "wowed" by the property too!
I would recommend, and have, booking the Lake Catherine Fishing Camp House to all of my friends and anyone interested in having a great, affordable time in New Orleans.
Thanks Ryan for sharing your wonderful home with us - it enhanced our experience and memories of our trip!
Perfect for family vacation minus boat launch
We rented this camp for 4 nights for my grandmothers 90th birthday. It was about 9 adults with a couple kids. We all comfortably slept, the sofa beds were nice. There’ were plenty of pillows and blankets. The best part about the camp was how PREPARED it was. They had EVERYTHING, from extra batteries to a life jacket for my infant! The water toys were a hit with the big kids ( kayaks and paddle boards). We had a BLAST catching fish off the pier and the porch was amazing!! Everything about the camp was so great. Everything was so CLEAN!!! There is really only one complaint which is why I am giving 4 stars. We had two boats there to fish in, the boat launch is not usable because the water is so shallow. We had to drive to the marina to launch daily, this was not ideal. If you do not plan on launching boats- this camp is Awesome!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the positive feedback and I'm glad things overall went well. I'm sorry to hear though about the boat launch not working sufficiently for your group. The lake has been unseasonably low as of late, but I will make arrangements to get the slip dredged out so that it can have enough water depth needed and remain usable regardless. Thanks again.
