Great location!

  • 5 of 5

Close enough to drive to New Orleans, took a Boyou Swamp Tour, access to groceries to fix seafood in a great kitchen. The view and dock were perfect. Thanks for everything!

Great place to stay!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Ryan was awesome to work with. He is very responsive and everything is as advertised. The house has everything you could want. The location is far enough from the hustle and bustle of New Orleans but close enough to get into town for the activities. The pier is awesome!!! I hope to stay at this house again in the near future. The only minor I thing I could think of to improve the place might be a couple of small reflectors on each side of the driveway. The driveway can be difficult to see. We felt like we may have been pulling into the yard a couple of times. In all fairness, there was a heavy overcast so it was really dark.

Thank you for sharing your house with us Ryan!

THIS IS THE ONE!!

  • 5 of 5

If your on a family trip or a fishing trip this house has everything you need. I’ve traveled a lot and rented houses and condos, but this one beats them all. The week we were there the weather was bad so we stayed at the house a lot and never ran out of this to do. The closest was loaded with all kinds of board and card games. A shelf full of dvds, wii games, and books. The wii had several controllers. And the house was fully stocked with everything. The best part was the shed. Stocked with kayaks, canoe, 14” John boat, fishing poles, crab traps, grill, deep fryer, crab boiler, sporting equipment, and a lot more. If I had known I would have left a truck load of stuff at home. All you need here is your clothes!!

Work Stay in New Orleans

  • 5 of 5

Traveled to New Orleans with a couple of Co-Workers. The house was amazing and a welcome site after being in hotels for the previous 4 nights. Felt right at home and was very nice inside. We unable to use and of the water toys but I'm sure they would have been a blast. About a 30 to 40 minute trip to downtown but worth it to be on the water. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Definitely will stay again if we are in the area.

Pro's and Con's

  • 3 of 5

Ryan cares about his property and his guest’s comfort. We have stayed at many vacation rentals over the past 30+ years and Ryan is the first to go the extra mile in having kayaks, John Boat and crab traps plus a great set up for processing your catches. It was nice not to drag all of that with us on vacation. We’ve been to NOLA several times but always stayed in French Quarters. This was a wonderful change. Had all of the excitement and great restaurants within an easy 30 min drive but also had Lake Catherine and fishing! Everyone was so content on this trip and no one was bored.

Pro’s:

- Definitely shows pride in ownership. Nice house and setup.

-Wonderful porch and dock! Loved, loved, loved he utility elevator to carry everything up to the house. Great parking and water access.

-All the basic were there so that you didn’t have to visit Walmart as your first vacation outing. Salt/ pepper/ spices/ coffee/ creamer/ coffee filters /tin foil/ plastic wear for storing food/ paper towels /toilet paper /trash bags /laundry detergent/ dryer sheets/shampoo/ conditioner/ bath soap. Very considerate and thoughtful on Ryan’s part. We were able to start vacationing immediately cause he took care of the details.

-It was awesome having all the things we love about NOLA’s historic districts within a short drive (street parking was very easy to find and free) but then to go back to the house sit on the porch listening to the water and the sea gulls watching everyone fish and crab. Best of both worlds! Watched the wild life in French Quarters and then at Lake Catherine (of course there are gators but get real that’s part of the beauty!)

Con’s:

-Master Bedroom has a queen size bed - Really need a king size mattress in there to make things comfortable.

-We are very seasoned travelers. Due to my job I also spent many years home one week out of every month and 3 weeks a month sleeping on hotel beds. Ryan please get new mattress. Though there were “egg crates” on the mattresses, every mattress in the house was very, very, very uncomfortable. Teens to adult woke up hurting. We kept a large bottle of Tylenol on the kitchen table. Mornings were rough!

-John boat leaks. Needs repair or replacing.

-Hard to identify the house and dock when coming in from a day out on Lake Catherine.

House numbers or some type of identifier on the dock facing the water would help.

-Would love to go again but only if there are new more comfortable mattresses.

Owner's Response: Tanya, thanks for all the nice words and I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I do apologize for the firmness of the mattresses being an issue. I intentionally provided them that way since that is what you typically find in hotels, but I will look into adding improved cushioned mattress pads, and possibly different mattresses altogether, to better give guests the option. Thanks again for the feedback. -Ryan-
