Overview

About the property

House, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Cute, furnished, first floor, 1 bedroom 1 bath guest house at Willard Beach. Great for a single person or couple to enjoy some time in Maine. Enjoy water views and close proximity to the beach.

The guest house is 2 rooms, plus a newly installed galley kitchen with granite counter top and dishwasher and a full bath. We live in the main house next door so are available if you need anything but certainly won' t hover as we work a lot in the summer running the local ice cream shop.

The beach is about 100 feet from the front door. You can hear the waves rolling in at night and smell the salty sea air coming in from the windows.

Enjoy a quiet vacation while blending in with the locals at Willard Beach, South Portland, Maine. Willard Beach is a small, mile long, sandy neighborhood beach with beautiful views of Casco Bay, the islands and the ship channel that leads to Portland Harbor. Watch the cruise ships come into Portland from the porch. Stroll in the sand at dawn and see the local fishing boats head out to sea. Soak up the sun and salty sea air at South Portland's best-kept secret!!

Walk to local restaurants such as Joe's boathouse, David's or one of two wonderful neighborhood bakery/coffee shops. There is also a gourmet ice cream shop a short walk away. Drive three miles to Portland's Old Port district which offers shopping, night life, and a variety of outstanding restaurants. Take the Casco Bay Lines ferries to local islands for biking, dining, or exploring. Short drive from I-295 which leads to Freeport, Maine, home of the world famous L.L. Bean and numerous outlet stores.

Private parking provided.

Beautifully decorated, super clean and good location.

This guest house is exactly as described. We enjoyed a four day stay in the area and were pleasantly surprised as to how quiet the area was. We were especially glad to be in a "neighborhood" area rather than in a tourist area. The beautiful city of Portland, the shopping area of Freeport and the other fine beaches (such as the one in Scarborough) are only about 30 minutes away. We fortunately had gorgeous weather which made those day trips most enjoyable. We were happy to find this gem in our first time using VRBO.

Amazing view, perfect bungalow

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful time at Jen's place in Maine this past week. Walked down the beach to Scratch Bakery (James Beard nominated!) every morning and enjoyed ice cream at her shop, Scoops, on several days. Willard beach is just steps away, quiet, private, but also great for watching sailboats and ships cruise by. The location is also just a short walk to Bug Light lighthouse and a 2+ mile run to Portland Headlight. The cottage was perfect - comfortable bed, great sheets towels, equipped kitchen and living area, nice wraparound porch, and private. I hope I can return next year!

Beautifully kept property

  • 5 of 5

I had the most wonderful week at this little cottage. The wished I could have stayed longer. The view from the porch is 100 times better than the picture indicates. The beach is closer than it appears in the photo and so charming. Every night I walked the beach at sunset and the sunsets were gorgeous. The bed and sheets were comfy and soft, big fluffy white towels were luxurious. Jennifer, the land lady was lovely, accessible, discreet and a pleasure to meet. Do not miss her icecream at Willard scoops. The cottage is convenient to Portland where I was working. The neighborhood was quiet with very nice neighbors. Parking was right next to the cottage, the kitchen had every amenity needed for simple cooking. I just loved it so much. It exceeded my expectations.

Guesthouse at Willard Beach

  • 4 of 5

The guesthouse at Willard Beach was a perfect size for my husband and myself. Loved the views of Casco Bay from the eating area, deck and even had a pick-a boo view from the bedroom. The bedroom is large with lots of closet and drawer space. Central air would be nice for when you need it which was really just 1 day out of 7 days. There is a nice breeze from the bay with the windows open. We really enjoyed the cooler temperatures as we are from Florida. The sandy beach is a few short steps away and also a great walking path too. The area is convenient to everything! The owners are really nice people and the 2 small problems we had were taken care of promptly. I'd recommend this property to couples anytime and we'd stay there again ourselves. We feel blessed to have found this little gem.

Great Stay.

The place was immaculate, lovely. Just a few yards from the beach, which you can see from the porch. Hosts were very gracious. We look forward to returning again in August.

We fell asleep to the sound and smell of the ocean!

  • 5 of 5

This little guest cottage is literally steps to Willard Beach with a nice water view. We so loved hearing the waves at night and smelling the sea air. Each morning we took our coffee and walked the beach. It was heaven. What a wonderful neighborhood! Away from crowds in a true neighborhood setting yet with some nice amenities nearby such as Scratch Bakery (best bagles ever!), Willard Scoops (best ice cream ever! owned by the same owners as this rental) and Davids 388 for terrific, creative meals. (the chef is the owners son)

The guest house had everything we needed for a comfortable weeks stay. The owners live on the property in the main house and were very friendly but did not hover. The decor is beachy and cute and we really felt like we got a wonderful Maine experience by being there.
