This is the perfect area to explore all the wineries, and small towns from Windsor to Point Pelee - a very pretty area. Also, it is not too far from our home so we can stay as often as possible to enjoy the countryside.
In July we enjoyed spending time at Klassen's Blueberry Farm, picking blueberries. It was a fun day, ending with blueberry pie and ice cream at the beach.
In September we will visit Holiday Beach Conservation Area to see the Hawks.
We enjoy visiting the many wineries in the area.
2007 is just our second year renting - and the first season with this guest book. We welcome your comments.
This was our fourth time staying at this beautiful cottage (home). We had everything we needed. The home is immaculate. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative as it rained all weekend. The surroundings were quiet and beautiful. Lots to do in the area if you wish. Our friends were here for their first time and loved the quiet surroundings. We did mention to the owner that a new bbq was required and he is replacing it. The only other thing is that the mattresses in the bed rooms need either to be replaced or a memory foam put on top. Great stay and we will definitely be back!
This was my second visit to Anne's Retreat and my first review. This is a great home with lots of room and a short walk to the beach. Although the beach is a short walk and very nice I prefer Cedar Beach which is an easy 10 minute drive. The home is very well equipped and is spotless and show's Anne's pride of ownership. With 2 decks it is great to enjoy morning coffee or an afternoon drink. Anne is a real pleasure to work with and my sister and I plan on being back next year.
Could not ask for a better house to stay in for a week or more. Has everything that we needed, from a spacious kitchen to BBQ on the balcony to roomy up and down stairs. The house was in perfect condition when we arrived and Anne was very helpful. Great location about a block to the beach,a park right across the street with picnic tables over looking the water. Easy, short drive to Harrow and Kingsville. Could not have asked for a better place. Will be trying to get it again. Oh,WiFi worked great. For Americans,no ice machine but a food mart is close for a bag of ice:).
Anne's Retreat Villa was the perfect vacation home for our family and friends. This home is immaculate! It had everything we needed for our stay and more. The best part is the proximity to the beautiful beach, the Splash Pad and the Pirate Ship playground for the kids. We will definitely return to Ann's Retreat Villa with our family and friends.
This home is immaculately clean and tidy. Everything you need is there. The lake, beach, marina, park, splash-pad are steps from the door. With 2 balconies, it was lovely having a quiet morning read before the day begins. It was exactly what we needed. Anne was great. I would recommend this property highly.
We had a 4 night stay 7/2/13 - 7/5/13 and the only thing that kept us from leaving was how nice Anne's Retreat was. The house impeccably clean and had absolutely everything a family needs, The backyard is huge and flat so our boys could play baseball and anything else they wanted while we prepared dinner.
The issue was the beach was closed due to bacteria caused by the large amount of rain the area had received, so we were forced to maintain the lake vacation without the lake!
We fished in the Marina every night and the boys were pulling fish in left & right, but at times the smells near the water were rough. We went out exploring to several other areas like Stony Pointe on Lake St. Clair, Leamington and all the way down to Pointe Pelee...The only beach we found without warnings was Point Pelee. We also did the Marsh Walk at Point Pelee and it was fantastic. We found the John Park Homestead which was a cool tour. Most people would have packed it up knowing the lake was no longer an option, but Anne's retreat was terrific. If conditions were normal I'd imagine Anne's house would be a great place for a lake vacation.
Fishing (Bass, Perch & Walleye), Wineries to tour, lakefront restaurant, Bird Watching (Hawks in September at Holiday Beach Conservation Area (8 minutes away), Caesar's Windsor, Detroit Casinos, Windsor Raceway, Ferry to Pelee Island & Sandusky Ohio, Point Pelee National Park, Amherstburg's lovely Navy Yard Park & Waterfront Ice Cream Parlour, Amherstburg's Historic Fort Malden & Park House Museum, beautiful Bob-Lo Island (Amherstburg), fresh produce from numerous road side stands (apple & peach orchards, blueberries, peaches, sweet corn, tomatoes), Go to Kingsville (15 minutes) and take the ferry to Pelee Island.
Beautiful pirate ship playground, and splash pad in the park, across from our house.
