This beautiful Santa Fe style casita is nestled on 5 acres in the Sonoran Desert, adjacent to Saguaro National Park West and Tucson Mountain Park. Enjoy the sunsets and endless views. A wood burning kiva fireplace to cozy up at night. High ceilings, polished concrete floors and Mexican tile accents create the enchanting Southwest look and feel. The casita is surrounded by patios, so you can appreciate the 360 degree views. Please also see our new listing www.vrbo.com924322 for your desert experience.
The open floor plan and big windows bring the desert to you. Quiet and private, we call it living on the Nature Channel. Artists, writers, photographers and contemplatives can gaze upon Babaoquivari and Kitts Peak for inspiration from the covered patio.
Walk, bike or drive to the Desert Museum and Mountain Park. The property is minutes to Tucson Studios, Wildlife Museum and nearby amenities. It is 25 minutes to Historic Downtown and the University of Arizona featuring museums and cultural events. Casinos are 15 minutes away. The best of the desert and enjoy city life as you please!
We moved from Santa Cruz CA to Tucson in 2000 when my husband retired. I am able to work from home...what an office I am fortunate to have...all of nature! We built the casita in 2007 to be able to share with family and friends. Since then Luminosa has become a place many feel is their own and return every year. And we love that! Now we have created a lovely little suite we are calling Saguaro Suite so others can also come visit . Please check the brand new listing on VRBO: 924322. I called our move trading ocean for sky!
Cynthia Lester purchased this cottage in 2007
The beauty of this property is that it is nestled between the Mountain Parks, the Tohono O Odham reservation and a mitigated wildlife corridor. We drive through the mountain park for "city life" and live in beauty and quiet when home. And our neighbors all feel the same way about how special and rare our area is. Even people "in town" don't know about the homes in this area.
Everything you need for your well being is right here. You just bring your groceries...nature takes it course.
Casita luminosa is the perfect place to relax, explore, and enjoy the beauty of the desert. It was perfect for my family, our girls (ages 6,9) loved that they could step outside and explore the desert and then walk down the path and play in the pool. Cynthia is such a gracious and kind host. The casita offers complete privacy, but you would miss out on good conversation and the chance to meet a lovely person if you don't have a chance to talk with Cynthia! Truly hope to return someday soon.
Casita Luminosa was a superlative sanctuary and refuge for myself and my trusty 4 legged cohort - Cyrus. I've only experienced such an incredible place once or twice in my life. The beauty and tranquility of the desert is highlighted in the very comfortably decorated abode. I was so happy I decided to give Tucson a chance, and beyond grateful that I got to stay in such elegant surroundings.
Cynthia is a hostess of the finest order. She is thoughtful, kind, gracious and wonderfully accommodating. I wish there were more people like Cynthia in the world. It would be a much better place.
If there were 6 stars, I'd easily give Casita Luminosa the rating. I hope to be able to return soon. And stay for much longer. Thank you for the experience of gracious living. It is a gift I will carry with me for quite some time.
This is a great location to visit all the sights of Tucson and all of southern Arizona. This location was just perfect for sight seeing and relaxing. Of course we enjoyed the beautiful sunsets each night and a few brief storms that blew through during the monsoon season. So enjoyed seeing the animals of the desert. A special treat one early morning landed a owl on the chimney and doing his hoo-hoo sound.
This Casita has a nice space for even 3 adults. I enjoyed the full kitchen since we decided to eat in at the casita if we were there late afternoon and evenings.
We really appreciated Cynthia's great hospitality upon arriving and leaving.
We really love this area and are trying to work things out so we can retire here.
We plan on returning to staying here again. Looking forward to that time.
Only one word can define our stay here: PERFECT. Cynthia provided a beautiful location to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary in sheer beauty and tranquility. The colors displayed by the natural setting of the desert are not exaggerated and are visible daily, with amazing sun rises and sets, thunderstorms with rainbows and glowing stars at night. The charming luminosa house has every detail guests need to feel beyond comfortable. Exceptionally clean and furnished with everything to make our stay complete and carefree (e.g. fantastic reading material on the Saguaro desert, pool towels, wonderfully homemade bath soap, and spices for cooking). Guests can easily unwind and enjoy birdwatching, water color painting, reading, meditation and eating with family/friends on the porch of the casita (which we loved doing everyday). Our young daughter enjoyed looking at the wildlife and drew multiple pictures of cacti, while identifying different kinds of animals she saw with books provided in the house.
Without any hesitation, we would return again and hope to do so again in the near future. Thank you Cynthia for your kindness, hospitality and making our anniversary a truly magical experience.
We arrived midafternoon and headed directly to Tombstone for a little afternoon trip. We headed back through the back roads just to enjoy the scenery of Tucson , and of course the beautiful sunsets! Our stay was very accommodating and Cynthia the owner and I could be BFF if I lived closer . We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
Had the most relaxing time. The sunsets from the patio were the best. Sat there with my dog on my lap, and women next to me, as the living desert displayed its wonders of life in action. Going back again. Wish I could live there...
