The south will come alive while you stay in this spacious yet nostalgic home called Yonder. Yonder is a spacious and equipped house located approx. 20 miles SE of Gainesville, Florida, about 18 miles NE of Ocala and 14 miles SW of Hawthorne, 9 miles NE of Ci. Our guests will enjoy nature, quiet, access to great fishing at Orange and Lockloosa lakes with a local boat launch less than a mile away, sports events at the University of Florida facilities, museums, civic centers, movies, putt putt golf or just quiet time for yourself. Close proximity to Ocala for equestrian events and excellent scuba diving and the Ocklawaha and Silver Rivers. Shop for antiques in historical Micanopy, McIntosh, Hawthorne and Citra.
There are 5 beds, a bunk bed with a futon bottom which can be seating or turn into a full size sleeping bed with a twin bed on top, a queen bed in master, another room with a twin and yet another room with a full bed. Yonder can sleep more people if you bring air mattresses or sleeping bags, with you. Up to 15 guests is acceptable. Huge fully-equipped kitchen, two full baths. Suggest paper goods for over 8. Expansive wood burning fireplace, Cut firewood may be used if available but not guaranteed, no charcoal or cooking in fireplace permitted. There is a recreation room equipped with a regulation slate pool table and electronic dart board. Washer and dryer, side by side refrigerator and dishwasher. No icemaker, bring bagged ice please.
You will find hunting, fishing, boating, hiking and more locally. Prepare food at "Yonder" in our well equipped kitchen. Some items you will find there are toaster, elec. can opener, pots and pans, colander, crock pot, electric griddle, electric mixer, mixing bowls and various sizes of baking dishes and more. You may also enjoy the Yearling Restaurant in Cross Creek or PJ Café in Hawthorne or other area establishments. The historic home site for Marjorie K. Rawlings, author of many famous books such as The Yearling and Jacob's Ladder lived in Cross Creek while writing many of her area inspired books. Her home, farm, orchard and writing studio are still there for you to walk the grounds or go on tour. Our hospitality includes, linens for the 8 beds, towels, hand towels, dish cloths and wash cloths. Almost anything you may need by way of staying a while. "Yonder" is approximately 1 and 1/2 hours to the Orlando Vacation Parks such as Disney, Universal and Sea World. " 10 minutes or less to Hwy. 301, Interstate 75 or Hwy. 441. Want to sun on the beach Yonder is about an hour from either Crescent Beach or Cedar Key (East or West Coast of Florida) for great beach and salt water fishing experiences.
Although firewood is not always available, foraging the nearby areas for fallen branches can be fun but be cautious of snakes they like the limbs for hiding places. You may use fire logs purchased at Lowes or similar outlets but NO LUMBER or furniture.
Sorry no pets, but private functions are permissible with additional fee and deposit. There is meal seating including the breakfast bar for at least 16, but there is a seating height fireplace hearth and an area called the "stage" in the rec. room for additional seating.
Two night minimum stay required. Early Check-In (starting at Noon) available for $50 additional charge and approved advance request and payment and late departure of 2:00 p.m.(until 2:00p.m.) is also available for an additional $50 charge and approved in advance and with advance payment. Yonder has been utilized for several small weddings/receptions for approximately 40 people. Great location for indoor tailgate events. Contact owner for any further information or requests.
